Months after Hurricane Maria hit the island of #puertorico these are very common sites in the hardest hit mountain regions including #lares #utuado #jayuya #orocovis #barranquitas #adjuntas and more. These beautiful lush mountain forests have been devastated and still remain without consistent water, electricity and food supply. 5% of the island will never again be able to connect to the traditional electric grid. These are the first towns that our construction missions will address. We spent a day hiking through the jungle south of Adjuntas. We found a very old looking suspension bridge that barely survived hurricane Maria. Just 4 months after the devastation, most of the jungle on Puerto Rico has already regrown into lush green vegetation. The roads into Adjuntas are open and the trails are now accessible from road 518.
