So I know I don't usually talk on here anymore but I thought I'd throw my two cents out there as a SWD vet. There's no structure to this, it's just me ranting for a minute on mobile. Sorry in advance for any spelling/grammar errors, I just wanted to throw this out there.

The way Solmare is treating Obey Me! isn't anything new for them, with things going downhill as far as events getting harder/story feeling bland/changing up game mechanics so you're inclined to either give them money or get bored and quit. It's been an issue they've had for a while, and with each new game they release it just seems to get worse. There's more than a few things happening in OM that have been trends in their other "newer" games. I use newer relatively bc it's been a while since they've released a more traditional otome game, but I'm talking about games like Wizardess Heart and onwards to be (a little) more specific.

Using Wizardess Heart as an example, it's easy to see the similarities between it and OM's problems. Wizardess Heart collection events gradually started to decrease the amount of event points you could earn from ~6 to 2-3 depending on what in game actions you did, and that's not even mentioning the increasing of event points needed to complete the event. In addition to this (and why I'm not looking forward to OM potentially adding more characters in the coming seasons), they also started to add routes for characters that only showed up briefly in previous routes, which isn't a problem in and of itself, but it quickly became an issue when they were releasing a new route every couple months. This led to a lot of characters with lackluster routes since they were being churned out so fast and all the characters suffering from a lack of development since there was just so many of them to focus on. This, combined with the constant stream of events, made it hard to keep up with the game, although at least with games like Wizardess Heart you didn't have to choose between event and main story. It was possible to do both since either you progressed in the event by playing the main story, or sometimes the event would have its own story + tickets/stamina so you wouldn't have to spread your resources quite as thin as you do with OM. It was still hard to be a free to play player, but it was possible as long as you were patient and you could enjoy stories with actual substance. Which for as much as I like OM, I really can't say with confidence that they're giving us good stories, let alone character development and motivation, and when the characters we already have aren't getting much (if any) of that it makes me worried that the potential new characters will be little more than pretty pictures to look at.

TLDR: Obey Me getting progressively worse isn't anything new for SWD, their older games suffer from the same problems although not to the same extent.
