The names for the Triwizard Tournament are drawn on Halloween, with Ron expressing that he doesn’t believe Harry that night, and the first task is on November 25th, immediately after which Ron makes up with Harry.

The Trio break into the Voldemort-controlled Ministry in November, then travel for weeks before overhearing Griphook’s talk with Ted, Dean, and Dirk Cresswell which prompts the fight between Harry and locket-influenced Ron. The Silver Doe incident where Ron comes back occurs shortly enough after Christmas that it is still the Christmas holidays when the reunited Trio goes to visit Xenophilius, as Ron proclaims that “Luna will be home”.

All in all, the two fights that Ron ever has with Harry in the books last all of just barely two months versus years of fierce friendship, yet people will judge his character solely for the former while completely disregarding the latter. Two months out of a whole life.

Feel like Ron went through some real development to go from only caring about taking a pretty girl to the Yule Ball to advising Harry to date a girl for her personality instead of just her looks by the end of book 5, and it’s not all that talked about.

sometimes i remember that when ron finally got a pet of his own - not a hand-me-down, not a family thing - he still let his little sister name it and honestly that says a lot about how giving he is even with the precious little he has

Honestly with all those posts out there talking about how muggleborns would have come up with this or that non-magical solution to stop Voldemort/the Death Eaters, I would just like to remind everyone it was my boy Ron Weasley who was the only one in the entire series to ever suggest tossing a wand away and straight-up punching your opponent in the nose

anyone else ever think about how the only time the books mention it was ron’s birthday is the one he gets poisoned on?

In the books when Fred and George start their business, the only notable impact this has on Ron is that they buy him some new and much better looking dress robes, per Harry’s request. Of course, they don’t identify Harry as the originator of the idea, so it just looks like they decided to do something nice for the little brother they always tease. Ron’s a bit surprised, but overall happy and grateful for the gesture. A nice moment for some of the Weasley boys that makes the reader smile.

Now compare this to the HBP film, where Ron asks a price on an item in the store and the twins eventually end up doubling the price because “[he’s their] brother”. Of course you can and are meant to see this and their exaggeratedly contemptuous looks as a joke – but again, it’s one where the audience is encouraged to laugh at Ron rather than with him. And it’s a joke that is terribly OOC for any Weasley to make, tone deaf to the fact that the Weasleys are poor. Fred and George would never mock Ron for his lack of money, not when they themselves are only in business because of Harry’s donation. Not only that, but the movies leave the gift of the new dress robes out completely, meaning that the only direct impact on Ron of the twins’ success is to be ridiculed.

The movies don’t even want Ron’s siblings to like him.
