Tzuyu Is Sick But It’s Your Two-Year Anniversary
You glance over your shoulder at the sound of Tzuyu coughing. She shivers and hides her thin shoulders beneath the heavy blanket. You frown and turn back to the stove.
“Ah, this sucks so much!” She exclaims, irritated.
“It’s okay, jagi. Don’t worry.” You say comfortingly as you pour the chicken noodle soup into a small bowl. You carry it to her and place it down on the small, coffee table.
She curls into a tight ball so you can sit beside her. She pouts. “I came all the way here to New York just to surprise you for our 2nd dating anniversary and I get sick.”
You smile and shake your head, gently rubbing her purple hair that’s tinted with brown veins. She lowers her head, the wavy streaks tumbling over her shoulders, and lets out a heavy breath as she sits up straight and begins to eat the soup you made her.
“But, oppa, we should still do something fun. I don’t want to do nothing on our special day.”
You nod. “Okay, we can do something, but you have to stay sitting down.”
She frowns again. “Then what is there to do?”
You think quietly and pretend to stare off when you’re just staring at her perfect, slightly round face and slim lips. You sigh heavily. “Rock paper scissors?”
She seems grumpier than before. “No, that’s boring.”
You don’t say anything else, still trying to think of a game.
She lets out a frustrated sigh and coughs before pushing her messy hair out of her face singlehandedly. “Why did I have to get sick today? I had it all planned, and I completely just ruined it.”
You scoot towards her and hug her from the side. “Yah, you didn’t ruin anything.”
She looks at you, her round brown eyes so deep you wonder if you’ll get lost staring for too long. You lean in for a kiss but she pulls back.
“No,” She whines. “Don’t kiss me. You’ll get sick.”
You laugh. “I don’t care.”
“Well, I do.” She eats some more of her the soup. “Besides, I don’t even look pretty.”
You shake your head. “That’s a lie. You’re always pretty. You’re beautiful, Tzuyu.”
She sighs but doesn’t say anything else.
“Do you want to play a video game?”
“Sure. We can play that one you told me about.”
“Do you want to play the zombie one or just regular?”
“Zombies, I guess.” She says. “You always play that one.”
You stand up and setting up the game quickly so she doesn’t get too bored. By the time, you finish, she’s eaten all of her soup and is bundled up beneath her blanket. You sit down beside her again, handing her one of the remotes.
“Just be warned, I do curse a lot when I play this game.” You say.
She laughs and shakes her head. “How can you get that serious about a game?”
“It’s in the moment. You feel like you’re there.” You try to explain but she doesn’t seem to understand.
“Just die already! Oh my god! That zombie is following me, I fucking swear!”
“Use the other gun I gave you.”
“Ah! Oppa, you have to come revive me! I’m dying over here!”
“There’s a zombie coming!” She shouts and starts to cough.
“Yah, calm down.” You chide, turning to make sure she’s okay.
Her eyes are crescents and she is giggling so hard, revealing all her teeth in the brightest smile. You relax as she slaps your leg.
“Oppa, I’m gonna die! Stop looking at me and go fucking revive me, damn it!”
“You curse too much.” You chuckle, but you turn back to the TV and find your way to her.
“Eh? Why? I like this one.” She murmurs.
“That’s the reason you died. That gun is total shit.”
“Fine, fine.” She switches her gun and narrows her eyes as she bounces subtly beside you, focused on the game.
You feel your smile broaden and you glance at her. “Can I tell you something, Tzuyu?”
“You look amazing right now.”
She nods but doesn’t respond, seeming too focused on the game.
You only laugh at her ability to ignore you whenever she wants. Soon, you two beat the game. She gasps and smiles widely, looking at you as she grabs you.
You take the opportunity to place a kiss on her lips. She kisses you back without hesitation.
“Happy anniversary, Tzuyu. You just survived the apocalypse.”
She giggles. “Happy anniversary, oppa.”
