Omg so does Louis being on the hello cover pretty much guarantee he's got that movie role? Also do you know how big the movie will be like would it be something that'd play in most movie theaters (like say Dunkirk will) or will it be more of an indie special feature few movie theater release

It guarantees that they are definitely talking to Louis about it. But that doesn’t mean that it is guaranteed to happen because, right now, the film itself isn’t guaranteed to happen. The script isn’t completed, no director has been attached and no film financing secured. So as of now, the film is a project in development rather than a guaranteed production looking for its star.

It seems from a couple of interviews over the last couple of months that Jamie Vardy and his new wife have been dealing with writer Adrian Butchart for a while so he has secured the rights to Vardy’s story which is a big start. But it seems that this promo with Louis is a way to drum up interest in the project with the aim of attaching a production company, a director and - more importantly - financing.

I personally think it’s a really premature move on Butchart’s part. To attach a star like Louis to the film - someone with no professional acting experience - before your production deal/financing/director is on board seems like jumping the gun. It would be different if Louis was a proven acting talent and one whose involvement could be guaranteed to attract a strong  director. But actually his involvement could turn directors/producers off the project (I am NOT saying that as a personal slight against Louis, just that casting a boyband member with no acting experience in the lead role is a HUGE risk). What if a director/prod-co comes along and says, “We want to do the Vardy story, it could be huge, but we want x hot new award-winning young actor in the role and we think we can get him”. See ya, Louis!

Whether the film will be a wide release depends on all the above factors. The Goal movies (Butchart’s only significant releases to date) were successful and were widely released in the UK but limited in the US. From a quick look on IMDB.Pro they just about made their money back at box office. But that was almost 10 years ago. Obviously the story is UK-centric so that will be its target market. Regardless of how big it gets (depending on cast etc) it will definitely not be anything close to the scale of Dunkirk, which is a major studio release.
