I may have miscalculated by naming one character Adrian and another character Adorian.
I love that "Adrian Thorn" should be the name of a suave, mysterious love interest from a period novella who is secretly the bastard son of an important Duke and will whisk away the heroine from a life of genteel poverty with her overbearing but well-meaning family.
But in Godhunt, he's the son of a wealthy landlord with no status outside of their small, conservative town and does nothing but make emotionally vulnerable women feel uncomfortable because he's a fucking creep.
Hello hello!

2: I dislike writing for Charlotte in Godhunt. Adrian is easy; he's the sleazy nepo baby who thinks he can get away with everything because of papa's money. Charlotte is more layered, but unfortunately because we see things from Louis' perspective, I don't get to showcase her motives and feelings behind her actions, which makes her seem one-sided. I'm hoping to release some side stories that shed more light on her.
20: I try to release shortly after I finish writing the chapter/bonus goodies because I know if I don't, I'll sit on it forever.

Arrival
No matter how many times he had been shuffled around (quite frequently really) some things never seemed to change. One of them being that the last leg of a journey was always the hardest. As was his habit General Thorn had eschewed riding by horseback in favor of his own two feet, and while the rest of him was happily intact his feet were... less so. Every step he took brought an ache that was threatening to become actual pain, and his legs had begun feeling leaden at least thirty minutes ago. It was a disgustingly long way between Haven and his new posting in Lunaris. Nightfall was steadily encroaching but with any luck he would manage to hit the town limits before it was fully dark. At least he hoped to. But then he was always the optimistic sort.
Speaking of optimism Lunaris was a lovely name for what he had heard was a little backwater seaside town. It was lyrical and had an air of mystery about it in spite of being told by everyone he’d spoken to along the way that it was a one horse town he’d be glad to leave behind when his case was done. Adrian huffed a chuckle and resisted the strong urge to rest by a stone marker on the roadside. If he stopped now he’d be licked; thinking of the promise of a warm bed to collapse onto helped to keep his long legs moving. Current difficulties aside, one of the best things (in his opinion) about being a hunter was that he got to move around and see so much of the world. He might’ve been born a city-boy but he liked variety best; so Adrian could find himself at home most anyplace, from a busy metropolis to quiet countryside.
Furthermore (oddly enough) this change hadn’t come as the result of his current enforcer trying to pawn him off on someone else. He had been specifically requested for the job by no less than the Lieutenant General of Eskria himself. Adrian wasn’t sure yet whether he was more intrigued or intimidated by the fact that he’d managed to catch the attention of someone like Lieutenant General Harold Addington III. He was a successful hunter in his own right of course and no one could argue with his results in the field... his means of achieving said results on the other hand. Well. He’d had more than his share of complaints with regards to methodology but as none of it had interfered with his career as it were Adrian simply kept rolling cheerfully onward, marching to the beat of his own drum. But now he’d apparently caught the attention of “important” people, the most important arguably, and that wasn’t something Adrian was accustomed to.
Just as a pensive frown was threatening to mar his angular features the trees began to thin and the first signs of human habitation came into view. Violet eyes took in his first glimpse of Lunaris, and while it appeared as though there was truth in the descriptions of its size, the feeling that swept over him unmistakable. It felt like he was in the right place, and not just in a geographical sense. Adrian gave himself a little shake to snap out of his reverie and started moving once again (much to the irritation of his feet). He needed to find the tavern and get some kind of food and rest... the night was coming.
Working Title Opener
I found an old old draft of my opening scene when I was writing this as a fiction instead of a script, decided to spruce it a little and post it here
