Adrian Underhill - Weather

On ‘Weather’, I love how the production came out. Adam (Bainbridge) took my original demo and just kinda warped it and morphed it, almost like a remix, adding new drums and changing the keyboard sounds I had played. Then we added the live piano and synth bass from Brandon Coleman (Kamasi Washington) and Keith Eaddy (DāM-FunK). In the end it’s quite playful and strange - it’s a great combination of sounds.

Debut album CU Again to be released February 9th, 2018.

Adrian Underhill - Cruel

This song means a lot to me. It comes from a place of honestly trying to listen and hear other people’s experience of the world - particularly those whose voices are often silenced and shut down. I think those are the voices we need to be listening to and raising up right now.

Experimental  artist Adrian Underhill continues to solidify himself as a innovative pop artist crafting lush soundscapes that are decadently complex and different from every other artist in the pop field. Weather is a delicious score of synths and drums and strange beats paired with his flawless vocals that will put a smile on your face.

Toronto pop artist Adrian Underhill gave us a groovy bop titled Weather late this year. Here is some of the tracks that made his year unforgettable!

1. Nicholas Krgovich - The World Tonight This album only just came out but I love it already and this track is magic - especially that melody in the chorus.

2. Rex Orange County - Loving Is Easy (feat. Benny Sings) Just such a great feel-good track.  Feels like you're marching down the street on a sunny day.

3. Frank Ocean - Provider Buddy Ross and Vegyn did a number on this one.  And Frank's stream of consciousness flow is just so fun to listen to.

4. Charlotte Day Wilson - Doubt Definitely one of my fav Toronto singers.  I love how slow and groovy this song is :)

5. Chiquita - En Mis Sueños I got to play a show with Chiquita Magic at the top of 2017. I just love the dense vocals on this track and the melody that comes in during the last third of the song is otherworldly!

6. Daniel Caesar - Neu Roses (Transgressor's Song) Everytime I hear those dissonant vocal harmonies at the beginning I'm DEAD. 7. Thundercat - Show You The Way (feat. Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins) I just get so hyped for Michael McDonald's verse.  I love this song.

8. Drake - 4422 (feat. Sampha) Sampha's voice is just so beautiful and somehow this became my favourite song from More Life.

9. Cashmere Cat - Infinite Stripes (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) I really liked this Cashmere Cat album. This song has the smoothest most soulful feel! 10. Rostam - Hold You (feat. Angel Deradoorian) The auto-tune and that hi-hat sound are mesmerizing plus Rostam's choral thing - perfecto. 11. Toro y Moi - You and I I had never really dug into Toro y Moi until this year and now I am a big fan.  This whole record is so cool and very different sounding than anything else out there right now.
