The hunter gives his warning as soon as he spots the unfamiliar face. "Even if the roads may not be completely safe, I would recommend you to refrain from straying from them anyway... Do you need a guide?"

This human seemed familiar. Without realizing, Alucard had been staring at him for too long, relying only on the darkness to cloak him. He was surprised to find the human had become aware of him and approached him as quickly as he had. The dhampir set aside his thoughts to offer a reply.

“I thank you for your concern.” Though the concern wasn’t necessary. As the man approached, Alucard’s interest was piqued. What was it about this human that he was so drawn to? Curious, he opted to take him up on his offer with the sole intent to learn more about him.

“If you are willing to guide me, I would be grateful.”

Simon slowly approaches the stranger and pulls his cloak about him as a breeze picks up, soon realizing that his new acquaintance is... very tall. Not a problem at all, but he knows it’ll take some time getting used to tilting his head up at someone. 

“There is a city closest to us, large, full of places to rest. I know it well, as it’s my hometown.” Simon states as he extends a hand towards the road where he had came from. They are alone, for now, but once the darkness settles further, the vampire hunter knows that could very well change.

“A lot of people fear this time, the demons around are becoming more restless and increasing in number. You’ll be in good hands until we reach town, sir.”

“This is not a regular Maverick fortress”

Is what X concluded, dashing again and again into corridors and corridors of that crazy, ornate building. A castle? None intact left in the late 22nd century. If that was a brand-new Maverick lair, its owner would be incredibly rich, which would mean a new trap by Lumine.

The problem with his hypotheses is that there were no sights of mechanical life there: no Reploids, no Mechaniloids. He could see some sets of old armors and the cogs of a huge clock tower, and as for organic life, only some human skeletons strewn around.

Switching to heat vision proved fruitless, too. Also, he noticed that he wandered into the same library again.

X didn’t dare touch the books - maybe those were fake and would activate a trap, maybe those were very fragile antiques, but he sent a call to the HQ, hoping for Alia or Palette to give him coordinates.

No signal.

Tense, X checked his last text logs for some hints about that castle, but nothing. And worse, his internal clock dated from the late 18th century. Whoever thought it would be fun to force him into a lucid dreaming pod in the middle of work would summarily be dishonorably discharged.

A Helping Hand

@adrianfarenheightstepes needs a friend.

Richter had made it very clear before, especially after regaining himself with the help of an unlikely ally, that no one is to be left behind. Especially being left to their own after such a crisis. Alucard is a friend, and to Richter that is close enough to being like family, so he’d treat them as such. Alucard will not be an exception, as the events that occurred not too long ago against the fight with former colleagues wasn’t in any way the dhampir’s fault.

Richter isn’t going to leave the guy hanging after all of that. No one needs to suffer alone, if at all. So the hunter makes certain to check up on Alucard, just knowing that the man is probably still shaken by it. Ludmil was a close friend, who also shouldn’t be at fault possibly, but it’s not really his call. What is done is done, and Richter’s only concern now is Maria and Alucard. Once the young Renard girl was secure, now he had to care for their dark companion. Upon Maria’s suggestion and insistence, even if it’s not needed, Alucard would require more care in this time.

“Hey.” With a gentle hand gripping onto the blonde’s shoulder, Richter will do his best to, at the very least, make sure that the guy is stable enough. 

“Got a minute? Just wanted to check if you’re alright.”

Dracula, too, is increasingly becoming upset and now pacing slowly back and forth before his son. 

“To grant her wish in it’s entirety is to allow those with ill will to get away with things such as this! I am not apologizing for the monster that I am, nor am I stopping until the flow of foolish men who come here to our home ceases! Is it not enough that I no longer take more than I need? Is it not enough that your father has begun to starve himself, to pick and choose who will die and who will live based on what your mother had wanted. Based on what could be false...”

“I loved Lisa so, so much... but even I must admit that some of the things she said or believed in were just plain impossible to follow. You should know, as your hands are also stained the same as mine!”
