It's bullshit that money and politics trump client treatment.
Today it was decide that ADSAP clients who are in Level II care (IOP) must be pulled from those Level II services. And incoming ADSAP clients that require Level II services can no longer be referred into Level II services.
ADSAP is the agency moneymaker. You can charge clients $500 bucks to enroll and they will pay it in order to get their license. They will pay off their groups (another $720 at its lowest) in order to successfully complete to get that license. ADSAP has their own sets of groups, but sometimes those groups are not appropriate for all clients. Some ADSAP clients require that higher level of care. Which is when they get put into Level II outpatient (IOP) services. But if you put them in Level II services ($120 per day 3-4 days a week) you can't make them pay off their balance in order to complete. Because it's a fucking ridiculous balance.
So in order to avoid this and get that money, the agency decided that we would no longer put ADSAP clients into Level II (IOP) services. And those already in those services, those that are making progress and becoming comfortable, will just have to suck it up because they are being pulled from group and put into ADSAP services. And if future clients require that level of care, well too bad, so sad. It's ADSAP or inpatient.
It's bullshit. And it's a disservice to our clients. It's infuriating. Money trumps client care. And we're an agency that boasts about being client centered.
Part of me knows I'm being too quick to judge. Because we are private, non-profit, and we do try to work with our clients. The IRS screwed up our collections, and we weren't able to make up the deficit. So instead of laying off more people, we have to get creative. But money is a huge barrier for our clients.
Stupid Nikki Haley. If she would stop cutting funding to pad her/her staff's own pockets, some of this would have been avoidable.
