Nones (Mid-Afternoon Prayer) for Friday after the Second Sunday of Advent
℣. O God, make speed to save us.
℟. O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalm 126. In convertendo.
WHEN the LORD turned again the captivity of Sion, *
then were we like unto them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, *
and our tongue with joy.
Then said they among the heathen, *
The LORD hath done great things for them.
Yea, the LORD hath done great things for us already; *
whereof we rejoice.
Turn our captivity, O LORD, *
as the rivers in the south.
They that sow in tears *
shall reap in joy.
He that now goeth on his way weeping, and beareth forth good seed, *
shall doubtless come again with joy, and bring his sheaves with him.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
From the rising of the sun to its setting my Name shall be great among the nations, and in every place incense shall be offered to my Name, and a pure offering; for my Name shall be great among the nations, says the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 1:11
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
℣. Lord, hear our prayer;
℟. And let our cry come unto thee.
The Officiant may use the Collect of the Day or for Nones:
Collect for the Second Sunday in Advent
Merciful God, who sent thy messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Collect for Nones
O Lord Jesus Christ, who saidst unto thine apostles, Peace I leave to you; my own peace I give unto you; Regard not our sins, but the faith of thy Church; and grant to it that peace and unity which is according to thy will, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
Free intercessions may be offered.
℣. Let us bless the Lord.
℟. Thanks be to God.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen. II Corinthians 13:14
