I was tagged by @frenchy-and-the-sea to make myself in this picrew, soo here I am!

I couldn't decide which outfit I liked better so I made two versions, which is probably the most me thing ever tbh. (Y'all don't want to know how long it takes me to decide what to wear when I'm going out.)

The picrew options are quite limited, but I'll tag @sunshinemage and @chaitea09 to do this if u want to. No pressure tho! And anyone else who wants to do this is welcome of course.

It’s not so bad, Nin thinks. When it’s not trying to kill you by throwing you overboard, that is.

The boat is currently docked in Hercinia’s harbour, their last stop before Wycome. Nin’s heartbeat is almost back to normal and his hands have stopped shaking enough for him to hold his pipe and enjoy a quiet evening blowing rings of smoke.

The sun is setting, and its last rays of light are giving the ocean’s surface a golden shimmer. The softest of winds is blowing, taking the smoke away from Nin’s mouth. The only sounds around are the noise of the water gently lapping at the boat’s sides and of course, the even present calls of the seagulls.

Not so bad.

As much as Nin tries to convince himself, Aeden at his side isn’t fooled. They know that even if the shaking has stopped and the breathing his almost even, Nin is far from at ease. But they won’t say a word.

Instead, they watch over him, and both them and Nin spend the evening in silence.

You are a very passionate person. You feel everything so intensely, and that definitely includes love. You need someone who will match that passion, that intensity. You need someone who will care about you as much as you care about them, but you have a hard time finding that. You’re usually the one who loves more, and it’s sad sometimes, but it’s okay. But you will find someone who loves you just as much as you love them.

Verène Haydé, Senior Enchanter of the Ostwick Circle and teacher to Sanea Trevelyan, is technically a veteran of six Circles in total: born in the Montsimmard Circle, taken to the White Spire shortly after, sent to Kinloch when her magic manifested, transferred to Kirkwall to avoid lingering anti-Orlesian sentiment, moved to Cumberland after her Harrowing (and Meredith's coup of the city), and then finally to Ostwick when they needed a Senior Enchanter.

That's CRAZY, damn! After seeing so many Circles firsthand, she must have some opinion about their effectiveness, no? Does she belong to any of the mage fraternities -- Aequitarian, Libertarian, Loyalist?

My three Circle mage OCs are Telhara Surana, Aeden Fletcher, and Oliver Pentaghast.

Telhara was a Dalish mage who was caught by Templars and brought to Kinloch Hold at age 17. She was pregnant at the time and gave birth to twins at the Circle, before they were taken from her. She stayed there until the events of DA:O when she passed her Harrowing, got involved in Jowan's escape plot, and was conscripted by the Wardens.

Aeden was born in Starkhaven and trained at the Circle there, eventually passing their Harrowing. After the Starkhaven Circle burned down in 9:31 Dragon, they transferred to Kirkwall for a time. (It sounds like they would've been there at the same time as Verène!) After that I think they spent a few years as an apostate, and then of course the Mage-Templar War started and all mages became apostates.

Aaand Oliver was first trained at the Cumberland Circle, but after a failed Harrowing (due to foul play) he was made Tranquil. He was transferred to the White Spire for a time and then eventually sent to the University of Orlais to serve as a research assistant.

I don't think any of them were active in the mage fraternities, but if they were, Telhara would have been an Isolationist, Aeden would be an Aequitarian, and I guess Ollie would be a Loyalist by default. After his Tranquility is cured, however, that's a different story.

Working on rewriting Aeden’s backstory. Still hammering out the details but here are a few of the big changes:

Aeden was still trained as a Knight-Enchanter and magehunter, but was NOT initiated as a templar. After revisiting the lore around templars, I actually don’t think it’s possible for a mage to be a templar, and I think Aeden’s story works better when they’re a step removed from the Templar Order.

Their time in Kirkwall was spent confined to the Gallows with the other mages, instead of continuing to operate as a magehunter. Meredith didn’t approve of mages being authorized to hunt mages. That’s a job for templars. She shut down the program, and Aeden and the other Starkhaven magehunters were reverted to ordinary mages with no special dispensation.

During the final events of DA2, Aeden fought alongside the other Circle mages (led by Hawke and First Enchanter Orsino) to oppose Meredith. Afterwards, Aeden fled Kirkwall and returned to Starkhaven. Still debating whether or not this is the direction I want to go in, but I think they eventually end up working for Sebastian Vael. Maybe Sebastian hires them to try to track down Anders. It would make sense, given their particular skills.

Aaand after that I honestly have no idea. There’s a big gap between returning to Starkhaven and eventually joining up with the Inquisition and I have NO IDEA how to fill it, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out.

Since apparently I’m struggling to string words together in coherent sentences, I figured I’d share what I would have written for these prompts if I weren’t suffering from crippling writer’s block.

For this one, I had the idea to write a humorous Dragon Age short fic about my mage-hunter OC, Aeden Fletcher, tracking an abomination with their templar handler -- only it turns out the demon has possessed a cow instead of a person. Idk why but this concept is absolutely fucking hilarious to me, and I wish I’d been able to write it.

An early jumpstart on TMI Tuesday: who was the first person that Aeden felt really accepted them -- loved them -- as the person and the gender they are? When was it, and how has it affected them, not just in the moment, but in the rest of their life?

That would be Sparrow. He was an elven Circle mage who got singled out for special training as a magehunter along with Aeden, when they were both in their late teens. Sparrow recognized even before Aeden did that they weren’t comfortable in their assigned gender. He suggested that Aeden try going by neutral pronouns, in private at first so Aeden could see how it felt. It was the first time Aeden had ever felt seen by another person.

Of course, it wasn’t just about the pronouns. Sparrow loved Aeden, without expectation. When they became lovers, there was no forced awkwardness about their bodies, or about who should “lead” or who should “follow.” They were simply two people together in the dark.

Sparrow’s love and acceptance was life-changing for Aeden. He taught Aeden that they didn’t have to exist within the confines of a box. That they could simply exist, without label or expectation or explanation. He gave Aeden the confidence to stand up for themself in later years, on the occasions when someone did misgender or harass them. Without Sparrow, it’s possible Aeden would have lived in discomfort for a long time without even realizing how unhappy they were.

HEY GALEN as aeden's resident nb bro i gots to know what their biggest moment of Gender Euphoria was and also what their most nonsensical/weirdest source of Gender Euphoria is (for example, mine is That Good Key Change in a good piece of music)

I have to admit I'd never heard of "gender euphoria" before. A quick google seemed to confirm what I assumed, which is that it's the opposite of gender dysphoria? So then your question would be about moments in which Aeden experienced positive emotions and/or affirmation with regard to their gender, is that more or less accurate?
