How are you making the hair? I've somehow avoided doing that when modeling characters so far but I'd love to know how you did yours -a 3D student
I completely get you when it comes to avoiding doing the hair! I’ve only tried doing hair like... 5 timees?? and two of those have been with characters that don’t have “real hair“ [for example a fairy like girl that has mushroom hair], and the others have stayed unfinished. But ANYWAY I’m using Blender and I’m following this tutorial:

So it’s... “Polygon Hair“? I think it’s how I’ve seen people call it.I dunno if Hair cards/planes might be more appropriate, or if sculpting it in one single piece might be much more efficient, but I wanted to try this way.I’m using a bunch of layers, some are symmetrical, others asymmetrical. The reason for using many layers is because it looks like an absolute mess at one point, difficult to figure things out , so in order to see what it looks like, and to avoid getting confused with the curves I’m using I just make a new hair chunk and separate it from the rest of the hair in edit mode [by pressing P]:
I first did a quick “mockup”? like with sculpting, super rough just to try and figure out how I wanted to make the hair [Why Karkat... why must you have such weird hair... I looked up a bunch of references, I realized my own drawings of Karkat I’ve made before don’t make much sense either lol]
And finally, the symmetrical parts are the sides, because I thought It’d look alright to have that silhouette. And the asymmetrical parts are the bangs and the top back:
I hope something in here helps! I could share the .blend file too, I’d just have to figure out where to upload it.
I wish you the best of luck with your 3D journey! May you finish a bunch of characters with awesome, efficient hair!
[Please note: I’m also trying to learn and figure things out, I’m an absolute beginner when it comes to 3D stuff so take any of my advice with a whole cup of salt!]
