      “good morning, luna. i’m glad you decided to join me.” fu hua had asked the younger valkyrie to meet her for some special training. strangest of all, this was not their usual training grounds - this was a far distance frm st freya grounds. was this fu hua’s home? a small siheyuan with the court yard turned into a training arena.

      “do you remember what we discussed? a valkyrie’s time living can be dramatically cut short if the honkai energy we endure over comes us... as such, i want to train you not as a valkyrie - but as fenghuang. you’ve shown great strides in your ch’i mastery, you are ready for the next steps.”

he moves within shadows. lurking, gazing and staring with white eyes that form a stark contrast to his hide like the night itself. dogs are heard barking out loud. they return to its master; they slitter into his being. no longer could their whimpers let his presence be known. “ ... where are my lions? ” he speaks with a voice that booms throughout the club; angry, low, deep yet it carries a velvet texture to it.

he stopped paying attention to the teacher. the name was enough to cause his heart to stop - mismatched eyes to analyze the girl intently. yukimura. it isn’t her fault. she shares the same name with her. the one that took so much from him.

but this is not her. it’s not her fault - she isn’t guilty by association, and not by name. when the young woman starts to address him, he gasps softly, before pasting on a fake, charming smile and a slightly nervous laugh.

“aha, sorry. spaced out. that, uh. happens, sometimes.” he bows a bit, out of courtesy, and nods his head. “sorry you’re stuck showing the new guy around. i appreciate it, though.”

𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐏 𝐓𝐔𝐂𝐊 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇, she paces around her room to and fro, clicking her fingers together. even a blind man would notice her anxiety. gemity doesn’t normally have anyone over let alone a potential friend & someone who also turned out to be a princess. she was used to a bunch of old nobles & sitting in a political meeting. but here she was  ——  her only free day & she was going to spend it with a stranger. it shouldn’t be that bad, right? after all, she’s used to it. she’s now chewing her bottom lip. if she isn’t careful she may gnaw it off. beads of sweat form on the tip of her forehead. 

calm down, calm down. she recites the mantra in her head.

she passes the mirror, making sure her fuschia colored hair is in tip top shape, her make up in check. she reapplies lipstick & fixes her tiara. first impressions are key for a good relationship. wise words of her mother who never fails to have her repeat it everyday. she was SICK of the quote. she hums under her breath, yet another habit she does unconsciously when she is nervous. she inhales, shutting her eyes and exhales. okay . . .

making his way to through the fire escape had proven more of a feat than any other night. coulda been the knife sticking out of his gut, could’ve been the half-swollen shut eye obstructing his vision. nightwing was such an experienced crimefighter by now that dick couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten his ass handed to him this badly. believe it or not, he rarely made it home with the knife still in him.

he stumbled into the balcony, struggling to keep himself upright in his own two feet. inside he could see the light of the tv still on, but luna was laying on the couch, unmoving. oh, crap. was she asleep ? he’d hate to wake her up, but... he really didn’t know if he had the strength in him to make it inside by his own. hating himself a little all the way through, he knocked on the window with one hand, help his side with the other. his sweaty forehead pressed against the glass, and he knelt there, hoping she had heard him.
