OK. Don't wanna unalive myself anymore. I just needed a SHRED of affirmation that I'm making the right decisions, trying to be the best person I can, and this email from a student is my saving grace.

Being an instructor is wild, ya’ll.
New blog post happened! If you’re a new aerial instructor, or an aerialist in training (or both!), it’s got some good stuff for you! :-D
My first weekly silks class at Om Factory!
Beyond psyched to announce the debut of my weekly Aerial Silks 101 class! Perfect for first-timers, and more experienced aerialists who want to back up and polish their technique and fundamental skills. Sign up in advance at www.omfactorynyc.com. Hope to see you there!
Success!
My first aerial class (as the instructor) went really well! I had four students, and we were able to get through a few entrances into S-wrap, playing with wheel down, and some variations in single star drop. Fun! :-D
Milestone...
So, tomorrow, after five years of studying silks (and other apparatuses), a 200 hour yoga teacher training, five years of teaching yoga (and other fitness and meditation based classes), a 50 hour aerial yoga teacher training, a year and a half of teaching aerial yoga, and nearly a year of apprenticing with a mentor, assisting her weekly silks classes, I’m subbing one of her classes: teaching silks all on my own for the very first time.
I’m watching friends of mine achieve what I consider much loftier goals: major professional gigs, Times Square billboards, and it’s bringing me down a little, but I need to focus on MY journey. I’ve come so far, and I’ve worked so hard for this. Teaching silks has been in my heart and an important goal for me for years because I think it goes way beyond learning a cool new skill, or getting stronger and more flexible: it’s about facing your fears, learning to process stress and anxiety in a healthy way, finding out what you’re capable of, and setting your ego aside for the sake of your own greater good.
I’m so, so excited to take this huge step, and to begin sharing my unique style of aerial pedagogy with a new generation of aerialists. I’m right where I need to be on my journey. The rest will come when I’m ready. Go Me!!!
Today was my first day moderating Open Workout at Om Factory Flight School, and it was so much fun! I was able to hang out with my flying friends, play with a little acro, FINALLY get my alien split on silks down, figure out that transition between back balance, and back to standing on the silks, learn a fun baby-drop variation from Rebecca Split, work on my one-hand hang, and teach and guide my friends through dive bomb into dive, cross back straddle, double ankle hang, and different entrances into S-wrap.
There's nothing like the creativity and growth that happens when you support and learn from each other! I spent a few months training all by myself, and it was basically drudgery. I got into this because it makes me feel alive, and free, and connected to the universe! That's a feeling you just need to share. Come fly with me next Friday! 1:30-3:30 for only $10! Go to www.omfactorynyc.com.
