she’s wary of faces she’s never seen before because while some of them are actually newcomers, some aren’t. she blames it on the lack of memory attached to their faces and her busy schedule—there was always something to keep her busy (excuses, excuses) and away from the company building. but she’s here now and some person she doesn’t recognise is standing right in front of her and that’s what matters, right…? “move, you’re blocking the way,” she snaps, crossing her arms. maybe not.

his phone vibrated in his pocket, alerting him of a new text, and he chose the perfectly convenient location of right-in-the-middle-of-the-hallway to reply to it. he was so unnecessarily absorbed in replying to the text that he didn't notice that someone had come up to him. the voice caught him by surprise and jihoo's eyes shot up to see who it was. he was standing face to face with ara--the ara. 

it took a while for him to process her words, staring like a deer caught in headlights until he realized he was standing in her way. "oh! right. sorry." still half-dazed, he hastened to move out of the way. only then did he realize his shoes were untied, but it was already too late--he started to fall.

just centimeters away from landing on the girl in front of him, he turned his body and slammed into the wall instead. he winced from the impact but the pain soon melted away into embarrassment. reluctantly he peeled himself away from the wall and gave an awkward smile. "aha ha ha...sorry. again."

"What are you saying...?" Chen's eyebrows knitted together with concern when the Ara's hands balled up against his chest, a look of urgency in her eyes before he gathered her in his arms in a comforting manner, large hands moving to rub soothingly on her back. "I'm not leaving you, ever."

And he wasn't. He wasn't going nowhere, because he knew the feeling. The feeling of being abandoned, left behind, alone. It was all too familiar to him and he couldn't bare to let the girl in his arms experience the same, and so he promised he wouldn't. "I'm here."
