hello everyone! i just wanted to come on here and break my silence to bring some attention to a very serious matter.
recently, a lot of fanfic authors have been exposed for not being honest about their true ages and i just wanted to say lying about your age on the internet is genuinely dangerous and it needs to stop. a lot of authors have been caught or suspected of saying they’re 18+ when they’re actually minors, and it puts everyone at risk.
when adults think they’re interacting with other adults in explicit spaces, they let their guard down. but if someone is actually underage and lying, it can lead to minors being exposed to things they shouldn’t see, or worse, it opens the door for actual predators who use these communities to groom or manipulate. it breaks trust across the whole fandom. readers get deceived, other writers get dragged into drama, and it makes it harder for real adults to create safely while protecting younger fans.
age isn’t just a number here. it’s about consent, safety, and keeping spaces honest. if you’re a minor, it’s okay to enjoy fanfic, but don’t lie to get into 18+ circles. communities work better when people are transparent. let’s call this out and do better. protect yourselves and each other!
with love, caro ♡︎
