tidus’s relationship with his father is very love / hate.
on one hand, he does love his dad, and misses him incredibly much. Even if his dad was kinda terrible to him, tidus still cares for him and was absolutely devastated when jecht disappeared. their relationship isn’t perfect, but I feel like they both try to amend it, and in dissidia nt you can see they’re on better terms. though, I really only take that at face value because it’s not as developed as I’d like it to be for me to be totally behind it but that’s just me. and jecht definitely loves tidus and is super proud of him ( especially by the end of ffx ), but he definitely went about it in the wrong way.
however, as I’ve said before, it’s extremely important to remember that jecht emotionally and verbally abused him, and that can’t ever be erased. besides that, jecht’s alcoholism definitely strained their relationship even more so, and their relationship was so strained that tidus never wanted to turn out like his father ( arrogant and prideful ), but that’s exactly what he turned into. plus I could probably get into how jecht was the embodiment of sin even before he was actually sin, but that’s for a different day lol.
