∞: Is there something about your muse that has been constant throughout their life?
There is. Val is obsessed with the concept of balance. While certainly there is a concept of natural order and balance stemming from Gelmorra (since the imbalance is what caused the Elementals to get pissed off and flood Eorzea), Val takes it to a bit of an extreme. His choices and even his often mellow personality reflects this obsession.
Balance rules his life. He balances combat with cooking, gardening, and fishing. He has taken lives but also has saves lives. If he feels he has accumulated too much wealth or things, he gives things away to Ala Mhigan refugees. (Very few people know he does this or that he also relates to them, as he had been driven from his home and sought refuge in Thanalan.) He never just buys things, choosing to have things made from a hunt or something he’d found himself. A balance of using what the land has given.
And while he desires it with his entire being, true balance is just something he could never achieve.
