58 for Nalu because I swear that's Natsu to a T 😂
Send Me a Pairing and Number: Nalu 58 (in italics)
Natsu and Lucy were trekking home from a two-week long job, the exhaustion settling into their bones. The Celestial Mage was still huffing at her partner’s recklessness as if she shouldn’t be used to it already.
Working with Natsu was bittersweet. On one hand, she got to work with one of the most important people in her life (along with his flying feline friend). On the other? She had to spend all her time with the one guy who had no idea she existed. He was always saying things like they’d “be together forever” and that they were a family, but why couldn’t he see Lucy felt more? Was he really that dense? Every night, when he’d crawl into her bed, she fell into a happy, yet fitful, sleep.
But this time he’d gone too far. One of the opposing wizards had come at Lucy, only for Natsu to intervene. By the end of the ordeal, the Dragon Slayer was battered and bruised, all to protect her. Apparently, he wasn’t that dense, noticing something wrong with the blonde almost immediately.
“What’s wrong Luce?” he questioned, his voice laced with concern as always. Lucy’s heart felt as if it were trying to beat straight out of her chest.
“You need to stop getting between me and the bad guys,” she snapped, crossing her arms over her buxom chest. “One day you’re going to get yourself killed and it’ll be my fault.”
Natsu stopped them dead in their tracks, his hands grasping firmly onto Lucy’s shoulders. Emerald eyes locked onto hers and the intensity shook her to the core. The words that accompanied certainly didn’t help.
“I’d die for you,” Natsu breathed warmly, a small grin curling on his lips. “Of course, I’d haunt you in the afterlife but really, it’s the thought that counts.”
With that, Lucy couldn’t help but hug her best friend and laugh. If she couldn’t love Natsu in the way she wanted, at least she could be comforted by the fact that she would never truly be without him.
