“Could you just have a little faith in me?” The way Byakuya glared at him indicated that no, he couldn't afford to put faith in Kiyotaka's words, nor actions. He sighed, frowning as he tried to avoid the menacing stare he was being given. "I hoped that perhaps the times we've spent together could have changed your views about me, at least." It was frustrating, to not be trusted despite his best efforts. Old habits were hard to break, true, but this was nothing less than maddening.

Trailing murmurs and whispers of his boyfriend’s hospitalization had somehow only now reached the mechanic’s ears, leaving a sinking feeling in the latter’s stomach. It was a feeling that had slowly made its way to a foreign world, but somehow it received a ticket back to Souda’s emotional rollercoaster ride. Had he known sooner, he would have visited the hospital right away, but due to the secrecy of Togami’s conditions for “confidential matters,” there was no way for him nor anyone else to know about the heir’s absence. Until now. That was the reason why Souda now stood infront of the tall, white barrier. He hadn’t seen his boyfriend in what felt like forever. It was probably only a mere few days. Weeks, maybe? Either way, the hard tugging feeling in his stomach only worsened as he stood there longer, thinking about what the cause of all of this was. He wanted to know. Hell, he needed to know. Reaching out, he gripped the handle of the door, his hand trembling visibly beneath him. Letting out one last shaky breath, he slowly slid the door open. “Togami…?”

✑ → Togami responded by almost leaping out of his skin, eyes wide behind his glasses and book falling into his lap with a 'plop'. ❝Celestia..?❞ Something told him he was in a world of trouble for his lack of reply. The hospital did have incredible wifi, but he never bothered much with his phone unless he absolutely needed it.

❝...I haven't- locked myself away, that is. I'm okay. They just won't let me go, I promise I'm fine...❞ Fine for having almost died from overwork, at any rate.

"Well, clearly you aren't if they're keeping you here." Celes sighed, exasperated. "Although, they kept me here longer that I needed when I was here. But you're clearly ill. You're as pale as a ghost."

"Why didn't you call me?" Celestia asked. "I would have at least attempted to clear my schedule and keep you company."
