there’s a palpable appreciation when hawk breaks the silence. lanque doesn’t subscribe to the idea that comfortable silences and lulls in conversation can actually exist... but that’s definitely what it was until the human decides to speak up as they sit calmly on this grassy hill. the only company being the moonlight.

“ well, if you have any doubts then it isn’t the life you want. make some changes, maybe try some things. you’ll find something you like, sweetheart. ”

lanque smooths his hand over hawk’s thigh, smiling with a less innnocent gaze when the sentiment is finished, “ but i’d be happy to set your mind on something else. ”

There’s a slight hesitation when he’s asked. Quite frankly, he barely knows this guy. In fact, he wouldn’t even really say they were friends yet. So this question makes next to no sense. Why trust someone you barely know?

But then, it dawns on him. Jake knows he himself won’t do the guy wrong. At least, not on purpose. Oh, but he does have a nasty habit of screwing that up, doesn’t he? Not the greatest track record in history. 

These two ideas clash, leaving him unsure how to answer. After having his eyes pointed anywhere but the other, he finally looks up, only to give the worst answer he probably could: a shrug. “I don’t know. I mean, I’d hope to the moon and back that you would, but… Well, can’t say I blame you a heck of a lot if you don’t.”

But then, his expression changes to a small smile, eyes meeting theirs. “For what it’s worth, though… I trust in you.”

he’s wracked by a cough but still hacking laughter out of his throat. mituna’s grinning when he turns to hawk, disbelief and fury evident even with his expression mostly masked. “3V3ERY0N35 FUCK3D N4D 7H3Y DN0N7 3V34N KN0W!!”

“DONTT TTOUCH ME!!” it’s a bad one. all consuming, overwhelming, cruel. mituna holds his head and howls, tucking his chin into his chest. he staggers sidelong into hawk only to recoil so fast and harsh that he sends himself crashing to the floor, dashing his knee and elbow viciously on his way down. he hollers again, pain heavy in his mouth. “A BETTRAYAL!! A FIGHT BEFORE A5CEN5ION!! HI5 PLAN WORK5 AND HE LO5E5 HER!! YOU HAVE TTWO TTELL HIM!!”

Eyes widen as she looks at him,  tentatively taking a step closer.   “ Oh no, are you hurt?  Here, let me help. ”

lucy doesn’t call herself a gamer. every time video games are brought up, she immediately follows it up with ‘ i HATE video games !! ’ and kicks over a trash can. but there are some games that are an exception to that rule. usually arcade machines that aren’t so dependent on chance, more on reflexes and skill. rhythm games are her favorite. while she usually hogs dance dance revolution, she’s a lot less protective over groove coaster.

she’s still learning, but considering that she passed and got a b on the hard version of the mean skeleton man’s bone nightmare... it could’ve been way worse. lucy notices hawk’s reflection in the dark loading screen, turning her head before asking

“ do you want a round ?? i don’t have to play, i'm just kind of... chillin. ”
