Canus had never considered himself much of a reader, but when he came upon the library in this world his curiosity was piqued. Maybe he would be able to learn more about this place if he picked up a few books – it didn’t help that it was mind-numbingly boring without his friends, and he needed to give himself something to do anyway.
As he perused the titles, he came across a book that mentioned Yggdrasil; however, it was not in reference to Medio, but rather some human Earth mythology. Apparently forgetting why he came here in the first place, he was already drifting off to find a place to sit. There couldn’t have possibly been a Yggdrasil on Earth; Kotone would know about something like that…right?
He stopped in his tracks when he realized most seats had been taken; there was a single table with free space still left. The young man sitting there was quite different from the others in the library, but Canus didn’t particularly care as he approached him.
“Pardon me, would I be able to sit here with you?” He lifted his book to show him. “I doubt I’ll want to read the whole book, so I see no point in checking it out…”
there is usually a certain poise that lanque carries with him while daywalking, notably guarded and squared away from others. especially when he’s reading. most people would sneer and deem this as ‘out of character’, and really... they’re right. his appreciation for literature is a world he’d rather keep as far away from his ‘real life’ as possible.
but... ugh, if he were anywhere else he’d be all over that deep, handsome voice. and so obviously well built, too. the helmet is hardly a deal breaker, he’s definitely partied with more unwieldy headpieces. this just isn’t the time or place, dammit. lanque bites the inside of his cheek before glancing over the fae book.
“ if you don’t think you’ll read the whole thing, why are you even looking at it? ” he scoffs with a flip of his hair. the poetic edda is not something he sees as something someone could just... skim through a couple stories and call it a day. it’s essentially the only source of norse mythology, and while part of him assumes canus knows everything about it already lanque has dealt with enough people judging a book by its cover. he sighs, “ fine. but don’t ask about what i’m reading. ”

The empath shifted, and not in a comfortable way. The ground gets a knowing nod instead of the troll beside them; not out of pity, per se, but out of experience.
A train wreck was something they were very familiar with. Whether Lanque remembered their fear of them or not, Anda wasn’t sure… Lanque liked getting under people’s skin, but that was never one of the cards he’d pulled in the past. Maybe he was being genuine. Which only made the growing knot in their stomach tighter to think about.
“Um…”
…Subject change.
“…I’m, uh, not too sure. Everything after that time where we were all zapped to those islands is kind of a blur. Nothing horrible happened in the Fall, that’s new.” (”Halloween was kinda fun for a change, actually.”) “So I guess I’m not really the person to ask.”
The dealer came back with their usual bag of goods, and after a couple taps on their phone, Anda put it away in one of the deep pockets of their jacket.
“I still can’t really predict what happens here, so, like. I’d still be careful. But you do you.”
...well, yes. lanque can be manipulative and deliberate with bringing out the worst in people, but there are borders that shouldn’t be crossed. even he knows that. his mind... simply isn’t a steel trap. there’s a not so muffled under a cough “ my bad, ” when he realizes his blatant screw up.
“ islands? it’s not just the one anymore? ” yes. good. news to him. things that aren’t horrible to latch onto. “ and halloween? ”
