Hello! First of all I love "And four makes home" but I have a question. Throughout all the story, you only wrote twice when Lexa and Clarke make love, but we have nothing about their first time, completely alone without Octavia. Clarke takes a while to fall in love with Lexa, right? I guess it would be nice at least for me if we could see what happened the first time they made love alone. If you had to describe it, how would it be? Thanks again for your amazing work
You haven’t been the only one to ask this! There was a good portion of the Clarke/Octavia/Lexa storyline that got skipped mostly because it wasn’t quite needed for the story as a whole that I wanted to tell and I felt referencing it was sufficient to get where I wanted us to go.
That said I know a lot of people are curious about how that came about with Lexa and Clarke. (tbh I probably won’t ever write it just due to time and energy... but here’s some of my thoughts on it.)
Clarke is already falling hard by the time we reach the end of The Seduction of Lexa Woods and she’s definitely fully in love by the end of This Bed is Too Small and Maybe the Apartment Too... Then there’s that pesky scene with Lexa and Octavia. That’s 4 months after the end of The Seduction... at that point they’ve only ever had sex as a trio.
At that point Clarke is comfortable with and has full on feelings for Lexa. They’re just worried about crossing that line because the three of them sort of forget to talk about individual dynamics and relationships - something they fix when they go about asking Raven to join them.
Their first time alone is after Lexa and Octavia’s first time alone. They’ve come close before, making out, roaming hands. After Lexa and Octavia had sex they both talked with Clarke individually. So the option was out there on the table. It wasn’t something to shy away from. And Clarke and Lexa had had sex, many times. They’d done the emotional bit.
When they get to it, it’s a night Octavia is late getting home and they’re laying on the couch in Clarke and Octavia’s apartment. They’ve been alternating kissing and watching netflix and it’s Lexa that gets handsy. Clarke has been quiet and she just wants to help chase some of the fear and worry away.
It isn’t earth shattering. They’re making out and Clarke is on top and Lexa asks if she can unbutton Clarke’s pants. It doesn’t take her long to slip her hand in and have Clarke coming - she knows how Clarke likes things already. They cuddle for a bit after that - both still fully clothed.
Like we see from them later on when it’s just them - their dynamic is based on fulfilling a need. In that moment Lexa isn’t looking for anything more than to assure Clarke that they’re good together, that the two of them can be intimate if them want (and they both do - Octavia finds them naked and passed out on the couch with a movie on in the background and a blanket tucked over them when she gets home.)
But first they just needed to step across that line. Lexa got Clarke off, and then they held each other. They’re still a bit raw and afraid that they’ll mess something up. They end up removing clothes to cuddle more closely (which does eventually end with Clarke between Lexa’s legs, but that hadn’t been the intent.
So their first time alone is soft, but almost, in many ways, unremarkable.
