All Praise to Allah (swt) Most High. Inshallah starting on the 22nd, I will be an Assistant Teacher at Sankofa Underground Academy in North Minneapolis. I will be assisting the Lead Kamara (Teacher) with either Kindergarten or 1st grade. S.U.N Academy will utilize an African centered approach to teaching, empowering the scholars from such an early age to grow into themselves and develop a sense of self that fully encompasses their African history both on the continent and in the States. Furthermore, the environment we provide for them will help in promoting healthy identity development. I am truly humbled, honored, and excited for this opportunity thanks to Public Allies.
In the textbook that your child/brother/sister/niece/nephew studies from in school, Black history begins with slavery..
