even though i say, im black and beautiful i still am battling with fully feeling that way and conquering my circumstance: being a black queer a man living in america 2015. it's an everyday struggle. a lot of my songs are packed with imagery and are like monologues of me telling my story, preaching empowering messages, etc. So with Keep Movin [Negro Kai] I'm speaking out to anyone who will listen and can join in. I'm telling you my story from existing in Baltimore to being condemned by society to being self empowered and just wantin to be free. I'm purposely trynna uplift not just my self but my ppl too. i want to create a song that can serve as a mirror to the identity and mind state of someone like me but also serve the same purpose as negro spirituals did for slaves back in the day: provide a voice and affirmation that everything will be good for now if we jus keep movin.S/O to Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, and Feli Kuti.
