It's black history month... im doing a black present show this month #SettlementontheBlackMarket I'm incorporating a lot of different elements of theater and film into this show. Silent film, voice over, dance, poetry, and live acting. My one woman show i created 3 years ago after i was wasted and fed up of black people being killed by the police and racism period. So i went to Ubw Sli the summer of 2015 to be educated on what racism and classism was. To learn ways to undo it and engage community. I was like how can i bring any of this to my city? Outside of word of mouth... I was also forming #Afrotense around the same time. I was sitting in the dance studio of Tulane listening to a workshop and it hit me. Focus my collective(now turned production company) towards my philosophies of freeing the barriers taught to hinder our minds. In 2018 and beyond my goal is to enlighten and tell stories we often sweep over or don't view as life altering moments. Also to continue to learn and explore the loss of consciousness amongst man. My one woman show is the first of many of those stories to come. Follow Toothbrush jesus for more.
