Hello! I'm sorry for being so late, but I'm here for DADWC! My prompt for you for this week is “All I wanted was for you to be happy.” for FenHawke!
Thank you for the prompt. For tonight's @dadrunkwriting , I tried to keep it short and ambiguous. Past-fenhawke after breakup.

Fenris turns to her. "All I wanted was for you to be happy."
"See, and that's the problem." Hawke gets up from her chair and walks over to him.
The fire is nearly too hot on his skin and when she touches his arm, he has to force himself to stay still. Her hand is too warm, it burns on his markings.
"All I wanted was some fun, something nice." Hawke shrugs as her hand drops from his arm. "Compared to you, I'm just selfish. I'm sorry, I didn't think how significant this would be for you. I thought we would just fool around a bit."
"No, I am sorry." Fenris forces his face to turn blank. A slave learns this quickly to avoid a master's anger. "I should have not burdened you with this."
"You're not a burden, Fenris." Hawke takes his hand and presses a kiss to his knuckles. "One day you'll find someone who'll understand you, for who this will be as significant as it is for you. But I'm just not that person." She rises on her tip-toes and presses a kiss to his cheek.
Laughter comes from downstairs, where the party is still going on. Hawke looks at the door and sighs quietly. Of course, she wants to go back to her party. "We should go back down," Fenris says, to make it easier for her.
Hawke jumps up with a relieved smile. "Yes, let's have another drink, shall we?"
Fenris forces a friendly expression on his face. "Lead the way."
Hawke skips out the door and down the stairs, immediately getting disappearing into a crowd of friends. Before Fenris is even all the way down the stairs, Hawke already has her second drink in her hands and dances with someone.
"Hey, you alright?"
Fenris turns to the voice next to him. It's Varric, holding a glass of wine out to him. "Thank you." The wine is good, better than expected. "I don't know if I'm alright."
"None of us can hold Hawke." Varric says with a wistful smile as he watches Hawke dance around the room, from one person to the next. "It's alright to be sad about that." Varric picks up a full bottle of wine from a table and hands it to Fenris. "Here, take this to Anders and have a drink with him."
Fenris snarls. "Why would I drink with the mage?"
"Because a while back, he's had the same conversation with Hawke that you just had." Varric gives him a nod and strolls off, leaving Fenris alone.
Fenris looks at the bottle and over to the other side of the room, where Anders sits on a bench, watching the crowd with a bored expression. On an impulse he isn't willing to examine, he walks over to him and sits down next to him, holding the bottle out to him.
Anders takes the bottle and then looks at him. "You?" He looks at him for a moment and then takes a sip from the bottle. "Hmm, this is good, what's the occasion?"
"Hawke."
Understanding dawns on Anders' face. "Yeah, Hawke. Let's drink to Hawke." He takes another sip and hands the bottle back to Fenris.
"To Hawke," Fenris says. "And freedom."
Anders glances at him and nods. His voice is low when he speaks again. "Freedom. Yes."
