It’s about body positivity and -as the title already may reveal- trying to always fit in in the impossible beauty standards our society has imposed on all of us and on Ashton’s personal struggles and reflections on this topic. Afterbloom is an unsigned alt rock four piece out of the UK, but unless they’re purposefully doing a DIY thing, I surmise they won’t be unsigned for that much longer. I encountered them through their fuzzy noise rock single Duh, a very grungy mixture much like a swirling scuzzy blend of Wolf Alice, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., and My Bloody Valentine. Impressively, Duh is Afterbloom’s first official single. The band does have two prior songs uploaded on Soundcloud, both very much worth a visit over at Soundcloud. Duh is a free download there, too. I have my eyes on these woozy lads.
