Interviewer: What went into choosing the races and classes for the characters [in “Monsters and Mana”]?

Lauren: You know, some of them just kinda fell into place. A lot of it was us referencing Record of Lodoss War... And then Mitch [Iverson] was watching the old D&D cartoon.

Joaquim: The 80s one.

Lauren: Yea, yea. And there was literally a Pidge character, but they were like the wizard. So he had originally started writing it where Hunk was kinda the tank and Pidge was the wizard, and I wanted to just go more with their personality types. So like, switch ‘em up. Pidge is more relentless. Hunk is more of the lover, not a fighter. So then we pointed him to Record of Lodoss War for the Hunk character with the little monk-looking guy.... And we looked at some, Escaflowne was another one.

Joaquim:  Escaflowne was a good one.

Lauren: At first I was like, maybe Pidge will be like a cute little cat girl. But then we’re like, “Nope! Lance is a cat boy.”

Joaquim: That’s all Lance.

Oh my god there is this guy on the Afterbuzz panel for Roswell who honestly defended teen Kyle bullying Alex and acting like Alex provoked it or something. I'm gonna be sick. We all know exactly what Kyle must have called Alex and this moron goes out there and acts like that was understandable? This world is filled to the brim with human garbage
