Companies are not entitled to “privacy” regarding how they treat living creatures which can’t report their own abuse.

Consumers are entitled to know whether their product was made in violation of animal abuse laws

They are part of a literal blatant government cover-up and censorship of truth to protect the meat industry and keep people deluded into believing a lie about where their meat comes from. Ag-gag laws serve no other purpose.

My state has them, yours probably does too. I desperately wish there was more protest against this very literal censorship of truth rather than people going apeshit over their cp being banned. It’s illegal to film what happens in slaughterhouses and any footage must be handed in to police and removed from public platforms. that’s fucking insane.

Court Rules ‘Ag-Gag’ Law Criminalizing Undercover Reporting Violates the First Amendment

In a win for freedom of the press, a federal court this month struck down an Iowa law making it a crime to lie about your intentions when accessing an agricultural production facility.

A court decision made 2,100 miles away has implications for seven states, including North Carolina, that have outlawed whistleblowers’ right to document activities at livestock operations and slaughterhouses.

US District Court Judge Robert Shelby of Utah this month ruled that the statute, known as an ag-gag law, is unconstitutional because it infringes on First Amendment rights. 

The ultra-conservative ALEC — the American Legislative Exchange Council — has been the architect of these laws, including legislation passed in North Carolina in 2015. That legislation, HB 405, prohibits anyone from gaining access to the non-public area of their employer’s property for the purpose of making secret recordings or removing data or other material. This includes electronic surveillance, even if the cameras are unattended...
