family gathering so vast that we are meeting other young people & there's just no way to explain how my brother&i + the girl cousins are related so we just say we're cousins and then they're like "how do you know [birthday aunt]" okay well let's just say we are all related to her long-deceased husband somehow or the other don't even worry about the specifics and please don't start asking follow up questions but we DO know her and she does like me i'm pretty sure and she is like besties w my grandma (they're sisters in law) so if we're competing for who knows her best i won't win but i've at least earned my spot at the party. we've played a lot of Rummikub together and that definitely counts for something
