It's a struggle to photograph while carrying a toddler... But it never stops me from trying. I just never learn... Or I never lose hope that maybe, this time, she'll be still... . . Underpainting. I first learned of the term when I watched ms. @hajrameeks YouTube video on grisaille, a technique when painting in layers. I thought it was a smart way of setting the tones for your piece as well as conserve paints seeing as how you already darkened the darkest parts of your piece... When I became more active in Instagram, I started following more artists and I followed ms. @spmlaw who creates these beautiful fantastical pieces in mix media and what I admire about her is she paints ON TOP of her pencil/graphite sketch (which doesn't really look like a sketch). It creates a unified piece in my eye while maintaining amazing detail. Not to mention the mastery of her composition and her skills in adding other media... . I admit, I have a lot to learn before I can creat underpaintings as clean or as put-together as Ms. S. Laws, but with practice and great educators like Ms. H. Meeks, I'm confident I'll be able to bring the worlds in my head to life in paper. . 🎨 @pinta.ph 🖌️ Miya Waterbrush 📜 2.5 x 2.5" watercolor paper #AgalloGiveaway #smbrodit_paints #smbrodit https://www.instagram.com/p/CEJ62cknJar/?igshid=1wf2n1p0uyxme
