Our skin is the body's largest organ, providing an airtight, watertight and flexible barrier to the outside world. Our bodies are constantly in the process of repairing and protecting the integrity of our skin - part of that process is cellular turnover. Skin cell turnover is the shedding of dry, dead skin cells from the uppermost and outermost layer of our skin. The dead skin cells are replaced with healthy new cells. As we age, the rate at which our cells turnover slows down. While we can't stop the natural aging process, we can help hasten cellular turnover with lifestyle choices and skincare. Maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, exercising, getting plenty of rest, and reducing stress and inflammation holistically support a healthy cellular turnover rate. You can also boost cellular regeneration with regular exfoliation of the skin. Exfoliating speeds up the process of sloughing dead skin cells, revealing fresh new skin. Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels are great in-office treatments to exfoliate the skin. Your skincare can also provide exfoliation. Products with beta hydroxy acids (salicylic acid) and alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid, lactic acid) break down the 'glue' that keeps dead skin cells together, helping them shed faster and more uniformly. Retinoids and retinol also increase the rate at which new skin cells are produced, resulting in a faster skin cell turnover process. An increased cellular renewal rate promotes clear, youthful looking skin. A faster turnover rate helps your skin may respond better to sun damage and other external factors by replicating cells more efficiently and quickly, improving fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne, clogged pores, dull and dry patches, even skin injuries! #skincare101 #agebeautifully #phillymedspa #gobirds #phillyskincare #phillyfit #phillyinjectors #phillybotox #phillydysport #phillyfillers #volumeloss #facialbalancing https://www.instagram.com/p/Co2STCdJF0X/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I just had my 32nd birthday, and well, it was awesome! I have never been ashamed of my age, and I don’t think I ever will be. I am what I am.
I am actually looking forward to this year. I rather enjoy getting older. I, for one, look loads better than I did 5, even 10 years ago. Like a fine wine. Another perk to getting older is the freedom that comes with age. The feeling that your life is your own and that your thoughts, and feelings, and even decisions are okay to make. The weight of feeling like you have to do something you don’t want to do, just to please others, simply fades. You can say no. It’s okay. You can stay in. It’s okay. You can carve your own path. It’s okay. If someone else feels bad, or angry about your decisions. It’s okay. As long as these decisions are right, and healthy for you, it’s okay. It’s okay. That’s freedom. That’s age. It’s mellow over here and the weather is fine.
Getting older and enjoying it, really makes me have a lot of compassion for teenagers. What a crazy, anxious, hormonal, chaotic time to live in. Poor kids. The idea of staying a kid forever is tiring. When you get older you really start to figure out you. The things that are right for you and the things you NEED. Things start have a rhythm, a beat, they are more methodical. And with that pace you start to naturally nurture yourself. All the while having less anxiety, less rush, and more self trust.
So here’s to getting older, with grace, dignity, and enthusiasm. It’s good. Cheers!
Happy aging friends!
Love, Anji
