What is the right age to start using anti-ageing products?
For most youngsters, turning 25 is a big deal. To many, it marks the beginning of the actual “adult life”, when one starts getting serious about job, and life in general. And in Delhi, 25 means you can finally drink legally. But getting ahead in years also means that certain things that happened naturally when you were younger – good metabolism and glowing skin, for instance – will now need a bit of a looking after. When it comes to taking care of our skin, dermatologists say that 25 is the right time to start using anti-ageing products or at least have a proper skincare regiment. This of course leaves many 20-somethings thinking ‘I am too young for anti-ageing products’. But experts say that changing lifestyle and dietary habits, growing pollution and stress levels mean that the process of skin ageing begins early now and it’s therefore important to have a skincare routine at 25. As we grow older, the hydration level in our skin cells decreases, which leads to fine lines. A good moisturizer, like hyaluronic acid, helps in getting rid of these lines without undergoing any intense treatment. The ageing process starts as early as 21, but the visible signs start appearing post 30. So I recommend starting anti-ageing products by 25. A dry and unprotected skin would definitely age faster than hydrated and protected skin. So it’s best to first get the basics right, which would eventually help in keeping the skin young and healthy.
