(Note: I know not everyone is in this post, I’m working on everyone don’t worry! They’ll go up once I feel I’ve done them justice <3)
- Raziel is basically her twin, she probably spends the most time with her. Movie nights with her are one of her favourite things to do, they’d take turns picking movies. They can only watch happy movie though, Cass refuses to watch sad ones in fear of overwhelming her with emotions.
- Cassiel is both fascinated and terrified of the ocean, she likes to spend time at the aquarium with Ondine learning as much as she can. Ondine is a great teacher, she’s very passionate, Cass loves that about her.
- Zed is the little sibling she wish she’d had, she literally just wants to protect them. Secretly tries to make sure they get sent out as little as possible, for fear of them getting hurt. If unavoidable she will pester Phoenix into going with them.
- She doesn’t know Judas very well but he seems nice. Cass spends a lot of time in the library working on her online classes, which would be how they really get to know each other. She wouldn’t tell him at first why she spends so much time down there, but eventually the conversation comes up and she admits that she isn’t a high school graduate. She thinks that he’s going to judge her for not being as “smart” as the rest of the agents. He doesn’t, instead offers to help with anything she may get stuck with.
- Annabelle is the little sister she never had. Cass loves taking her on flights, she even lets her sit in the co pilots seat. One time Cass packed a lunch for them and took her for a picnic at a scenic hill side. Other agents pester her on how she got Annabelle to laugh, she lies and tells them that she’ll never reveal her secrets, but she doesn’t actually know what she did. She still aims to do it again.
- JD is the dad of the group, Cass is no exception to the rule. Every time he tells her what to do, or to follow protocol, she’ll say “Okay, Dad.” At first, it’s sarcastic, she’s always sarcastic, but eventually she kind of means it. Would threaten his boyfriend if he asked, not that he’d really need her help, but she’s made it clear that no one can hurt “their (referring to all other agents as well as herself) dad”
- Succubus is the big sister she never had, and always wanted. Don’t get her wrong, Cass loves her brother, but man having an older sister would have been great too! There’s so many things Cassiel has to learn, from makeup and hair, to relationship advice. Cass definitely thinks that Succubus could be a wee bit nicer when she asks for advice, but she learns to take it in stride and remember that Succubus still cares.
- Kieran, she sees as a connection to being back home. He’s a good mate, she enjoys being able to have someone to speak with in Irish again. They talk about Ireland a lot, what they miss, and what they don’t. Favourite places, pubs, cities, cliffs, beaches, anything.
A/N: And some hurt/comfort for @thatdamnokie. The Bad Timeline is only what could’ve happened, folks. This takes place further down the Anchored Hearts timeline than where we currently are, jsyk.
It was supposed to be a routine check. A group of teens playing with occult paraphernalia in an abandoned building. Just go in, feel the place out, and see if any action is needed.
The contact was so light. Cobwebs were all over the place so Specter didn’t give it another thought. But then she was turning left instead of right, her movement were delayed, and the sigil tattooed on her chest was itching.
She got out her cell phone and dropped it. It took her five tries to pick it up. Her fingers were going numb but she managed to send off two texts. With a lunging motion her arm chucked the phone away.
Her chest was stinging now. “How sweet. Did you think this would do anything?”The voice was echoing through the room. Then it was coming out of her own mouth. “I’m going to burn the heart out of you.”
The sigil burned and she was screaming.
Agent Seraphim’s phone vibrated in her pocket and she had to do some juggling to get it out.
“Demonic entity.”
“S.O.S.”
The coffee she’d been holding in the crook of her arm fell to the floor. “Oh fuck.” She barely avoided slipping when she ran from the room.
Thank God mostly everyone was at the manor today. She looked in every room and barked out “Jersey Devil, with me,” when she found him in a living room. He marked his place in a book and she was already down the hallway when he went after her.
She found Joe in his office. It was a general rule that agents who were involved romantically together didn’t go on missions together, but she needed him for backup. In as few words as possible she brought them up to speed on the situation.
“You need me to drive?” Connor asked, slightly confused about why she’d grabbed him.
“No, I need you to teleport us there.”
“What?! I’m still working on it, and I haven’t taken multiple people with me.” He sputtered in alarm, raising his hands like he could ward off the very idea.
Seraphim leveled him with a look that brooked no argument. “We don’t have time. We need to get to her now. If you need extra energy, you can take it from us.”
Joe had gotten up from behind his desk and was crafting spells, lining them up on his fingers like glowing rings. He nodded at Connor.
“Oh fuck. Ok. Where do we need to go?” He was shaking his hands out and bounced on his feet. Seraphim pulled up the location and showed him. He studied it carefully and nodded.
The trio formed a tight knot, Connor wrapping his arms around them as much as he could. He let out a deep breathe and closed his eyes.
There was a sensation like being pulled from behind the navel and they were in an old business park, abandoned buildings all around them.
Conner took a few wobbly steps away and resisted the urge to throw up from sheer relief. “Yay, we’re not dead.”
“And we’re in the right place. Good job.” Joe motioned to Specter’s car and turned to Seraphim. Her face was as grim as his but a fire crackled in her eyes.
The spells to contain the building and whatever was inside of it slid from Joe’s fingers and activated when they hit the ground.
They found her on the floor, bloody hands digging into her chest. When whatever it was that had control of Specter’s body noticed them it charged, screaming. Joe moved to guard Seraphim and caught Specter in a bear hug. The demon thrashed, kicking and punching at him. It somehow got the short knife Specter carried in her boot out and slashed at wherever it could reach. Joe took the cuts with a grunt and kept his hold on her. He knocked the knife away and wrestled her to the ground, holding her down.
Seraphim knelt by her side and poured holy water over her hands. She said a prayer, covered the bloody mess on Specter’s chest with one hand and grabbed her throat with the other.
It was like touching a live wire. Specter’s body went taunt and scrambled to get away from Seraphim, but her grip was firm. She chanted the exorcism rite through clenched teeth over and over, feeling the demonic entity weaken with each recitation.
Joe fell back behind them to give Seraphim room to work. His back burned, but he didn’t pay any attention to it. The waiting spells on his fingers sparked in protest as he clenched his fists together. His chance came when black smoke billowed from Specter. He threw the spells; one to trap, one to crystallize, one to shatter, and one to contain in quick succession. What was left of the entity fell on the floor like spilled beads, clinking and rolling around. With another gesture it was gathered, transferred into a demon box, and tucked away.
He could finally take a full breath as he turned back to the women. Specter was unconscious and Seraphim looked exhausted and sweaty. He gave her a hand up and when he was sure her legs would hold her he bent to pick up Specter.
“Let’s go home.” Seraphim said, her voice raspy.
“Does it hurt?” Louise whispered from her bed, but Joe heard her. He went to shrug his shoulders but stopped. A large portion of his back was covered in bandages.
“It’s nothing that won’t heal.” He looked over at her and smiled. Her eyes were shiny in the dim lights of the medical unit.
“I’m sorry.” Her voice was even quieter.
“It wasn’t your fault, Honey.”
“You didn’t have to come. It was my fault. I should’ve been more cautious--” She was spiraling down, he could tell. Ignoring his protesting back he got up from his bed and went to hers, taking her face in his hands and stopping her talking with a firm kiss.
“It was simple bad luck for both of us, Louise. I came because Seraphim asked. Because I wanted to help you when she told me you were in trouble. No one could’ve stopped me. It was my choice.”
His thumbs rubbed at her cheeks, making sure he had her full attention.
“My dad told me falling in love was a one and done thing. It happens and you accept it. But that’s not how it works. It’s a choice I’ll make every moment for the rest of my life. I’ll be choosing you over myself, over my family, even over the Society. You’re my choice.”
She was trembling in his hands and he carefully brought her to him, hugging her close. Louise kissed the underside of his jaw.
“I’ll have to get better — stronger — so the choice is easier.”
