A Winter in the Alps

A Bracken and Ondine mission.

Originally it was meant to be a mission for Chimera and Bracken with Ondine as support, due to her connections with the local freshwater mer in the region. And considering her previous encounter with the creature they were sent to surveil, a Tatzelwurm. (ref. The Alpine Incident.)

The team had been ready to board their fight to the region when Chimera had been called away to deal with another matter in France. So Bracken and Ondine set out on the mission without him, as it was time-sensitive according to the local merfolk who had reported the Tatzelwurm(or Stollenwurm) and its increasingly erratic behavior. The mission went by somewhat smoothly and without any major injuries. The cause of the creature's erratic behavior was due to it having laid eggs. It was being more aggressive on top of its already territorial nature. Both agents were able to get a glimpse of the Tatzelwurm entering its burrow. Agent Bracken managed to get a picture in the burrow of the eggs while the Tatzerlwurm was away.

A note from Ondine at the bottom of the mission report:

'We may or may not have been dosed with some kind of drug by King Ulrich of the Healing Lakes. He gifted us each a thermos of tea before we set out into the mountains. It was an herbal tea and must have contained a mix of local aquatic flora. The result was an increased resistance to the cold and possibly increased endurance. I brought back a sample to study.' 'Also, I think King Ulrich gifted Bracken sentient moss.'

Words Hurt The Most

It was late, almost two am. All of the main aquarium lights were off. Only Angela's lab and the hallways were still lit. She had meant to leave hours ago, but was too engrossed in her work. The sound of the lab door opening startled her, but not enough to look away from her research.

"The door says authorized personnel only. Which means only me." She said, withoutlooking up to see who had entered. Her 'authorized personnel only' sign was mostly a joke. It was a gift from her cousin who knew she liked to be alone most of the time.

"Half the equipment here was gifted by The Council. I think that authorizes me." Llewellyn responded.

Angela looked up immediately to see him leaning against one of her work tables. This had to be the farthest inland the head of the council agents had ever gone. And here he was, unfazed and looking through her experiments.

"I see you're still working with siren pheromones." He stated. He picked up one of her test tubes, inspecting it. "Do these even affect you, Angela? Have you even run that test yet?"

He glanced up at her, a pretentious smirk on his face.

"Why are you here?" She asked. Answering his question would undoubtedly lead to something she didn't want. He returned the test tube to its spot and turned his full attention to her.

"I need you, Angela." He responded. "My presence should be enough for you to know that I have an important mission. Time is not in our favor."

Angela stood, but made no move towards him. "What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to track down Adrie, Queen of the North Sea." He informed her. "It seems she has taken the hunt for a collective member into her own hands, and we've lost communication with the agent sent after her."

"Who did you send?" 

"Mako," He replied. "she should be a familiar face. You've met her a few times, I believe."

"Have you run this through Roanoke, or is this another favor?" 

"You always ask so many questions. Just be a good mutt, Angela." Llewellyn said. "Go and fetch her."

"How many times do I need to remind you, I am no longer your subordinate." Angela managed through a clenched jaw.

 She hated that he saw her that way. A stray, a mutt. He only saw her as a pawn he could send to complete difficult tasks. And if she failed, well then it was because she was human. 

"Oh Angela, you know that you'll do it for me anyway." He smiled. "Deep down, some part of you still wants my approval."

Angela couldn't think of anything to say. He was right. Her failure to become a council agent was something that still bothered her. They both considered her to be his greatest failure.

Llewellyn sighed. The look on her face almost made him feel guilty. But she had failed him. She had given up. So he pushed his feelings for her back down.

"They were both last spotted in your Pacific Northwest." He said before he turned on his heel and left. "Don't disappoint me, Angela."

I mean... at the New Years party she was the one who caused the drama herself when she blacked out and SCREAMED at Champ about Rum not being appreciated as an agent soooo...

More Casting!

I’ve had this sitting in my drive... For longer than I would like to admit. But! This is for the show Next to Normal which is so emotion and I recommend it to everybody. So here we go! (I’ll include some songs from the show that helped me decide on characters.)

Diana: Morgan. Described in the script as "Sexy. Sharp. Delusional bipolar depressive.” The way that Morgan seems to constantly deal with this sort of inner turmoil, whether she shows it or not, makes me feel like she could pull off playing a woman that is struggling to live her life on a day to day basis. ( I Miss the Mountains / You Don’t Know )

Dan: Hamish. Described in the script as "Diana's husband. Handsome. Genuine. Constant. Tired.” Okay. So I don’t normally pull from the Kingsman or Statesman agents because I like to try and challenge myself by only using agents that belong to Roanoke. But, I just had to use Merlin for this. I feel like he’s the only one that could convincingly pull off being Morgan’s devoted but tired husband. Not to mention how he has to interact with Charlie. He could truly pull off the emotional depth needed for this character. ( I Am The One (up to 1:00) / I Am The One Reprise )

Gabe: Charlie. Described in the script as "Diana's son. Dashing. Gentile. Bright. Playful. Everything a mother would want.” I feel like Charlie has the right emotions to pull off this character. Just, smooth and charming but also really emotional. You know, just desperate to get his parents to acknowledge him. ( I’m Alive / I Am The One Reprise )

Natalie: Anna/Ondine. Described in the script as "Diana's daughter. Trying to be perfect. It's not going well." I really drew from High school AU Anna for this (and because I’m self projecting ayyy) but if I had to pick another person, I definitely feel like Ondine would fit this role so well. Natalie is just very emotional and I feel like either Anna or Ondine could pull off her desperation to get her mother’s attention.  ( Everything Else / Superboy and the Invisible Girl )

Henry: Drake/Rum. Described in the script as "Musician. Romantic. Stoner. Slacker. Philosopher king.” Just, just look at the description. That was enough for me. (Not to mention the fact of Drake or Rodney just endlessly trying to get Anna or Angela’s attention is very entertaining to me.)  ( Hey #1 )

Doctor Madden: Sentinel. Described in the script as "On the young side of ageless. Assured. A rock star." He was the first one I thought of. It just fits. That and I needed somebody who could be eye candy for most of the show.

Agent Arizona Headcanons: with other agents

(Note: I know not everyone is in this post, I’m working on everyone don’t worry! They’ll go up once I feel I’ve done them justice <3)

-          Raziel is basically her twin, she probably spends the most time with her. Movie nights with her are one of her favourite things to do, they’d take turns picking movies. They can only watch happy movie though, Cass refuses to watch sad ones in fear of overwhelming her with emotions.

-          Cassiel is both fascinated and terrified of the ocean, she likes to spend time at the aquarium with Ondine learning as much as she can. Ondine is a great teacher, she’s very passionate, Cass loves that about her.

-          Zed is the little sibling she wish she’d had, she literally just wants to protect them. Secretly tries to make sure they get sent out as little as possible, for fear of them getting hurt. If unavoidable she will pester Phoenix into going with them.

-          She doesn’t know Judas very well but he seems nice. Cass spends a lot of time in the library working on her online classes, which would be how they really get to know each other. She wouldn’t tell him at first why she spends so much time down there, but eventually the conversation comes up and she admits that she isn’t a high school graduate. She thinks that he’s going to judge her for not being as “smart” as the rest of the agents. He doesn’t, instead offers to help with anything she may get stuck with.

-          Annabelle is the little sister she never had. Cass loves taking her on flights, she even lets her sit in the co pilots seat. One time Cass packed a lunch for them and took her for a picnic at a scenic hill side. Other agents pester her on how she got Annabelle to laugh, she lies and tells them that she’ll never reveal her secrets, but she doesn’t actually know what she did. She still aims to do it again.

-          JD is the dad of the group, Cass is no exception to the rule. Every time he tells her what to do, or to follow protocol, she’ll say “Okay, Dad.” At first, it’s sarcastic, she’s always sarcastic, but eventually she kind of means it. Would threaten his boyfriend if he asked, not that he’d really need her help, but she’s made it clear that no one can hurt “their (referring to all other agents as well as herself) dad”

-          Succubus is the big sister she never had, and always wanted. Don’t get her wrong, Cass loves her brother, but man having an older sister would have been great too! There’s so many things Cassiel has to learn, from makeup and hair, to relationship advice. Cass definitely thinks that Succubus could be a wee bit nicer when she asks for advice, but she learns to take it in stride and remember that Succubus still cares.

-          Kieran, she sees as a connection to being back home. He’s a good mate, she enjoys being able to have someone to speak with in Irish again. They talk about Ireland a lot, what they miss, and what they don’t. Favourite places, pubs, cities, cliffs, beaches, anything.
