me, 30 minutes into one episode:
In the preview for next week’s NCIS, did Knight call Torres “city mouse”? Did I hear that right?
Well what do you know?!
So I’m talking to my co-worker today about how upset I was over the NCIS episode earlier this week and not being prepared for the fact that it was a crossover episode and that my (not so) favorite person was going to be making an appearance. (Lucas Black as Agent LaSalle)
I recalled sitting there, not thinking much about it and then bam! There’s that god-awful sound. Like nails on a chalkboard! I can’t describe how much I loathe that mans voice and accent. As a fellow southerner it crawls all over me that people already think we sound like uneducated rednecks when portrayed in television and film. His voice just glorifies that stereotype. It is the the single reason I refuse to watch NCIS: NOLA.
So anyway, we were discussing the actor and the fact that he grew up in Decatur, Alabama which is not but a few hours away from where I live. What I didn’t know was that he was the kid in Slingblade!
So I blurt out in the lab, “OMG! That was lips and peckers!”
And.... my boss walks in
Oh well. Everyone got a good laugh at my expense. Ironically they all knew what I meant by that reference.
Learn something new everyday! Guess I shouldn’t talk about his accent but...... ugh! Nails. On. A. Chalkboard.
Okay, I’m done.
Agent LaSalle: Slow Death of a Character
Season 1: Great character!! Kicked Ass! Took down many suspects. Competent with technology and crime fighting in general. Owned his C.I. Ross, P. Faced off with a Russian in a bar (damn sexy scene) Fun personality, has a costume for every holiday, accidently gets high on Isoflourane. Loves Mardi Gras and the City. Banters and has chemistry with Brody and Lt. Addie Watkins. Great storyline with the development of the relationship with his brother. Showed real emotion when Cade painted his house red and green. Was unstoppable when Cade was arrested for murder (Pride had to hold him back). Looked hot in the black t-shirt with bulging biceps. Respects and loves Pride for saving his life. Has no father, Pride and Cade filled that role in his life (quote from You'll Do).
Season 2: Gets his ass kicked (several times) and has to run get the truck to chase down suspects. Is made to look foolish and often called names by Agent Percy. When have we ever seen LaSalle look like a Neanderthal or overly macho? Never. Supposedly is Percy's Work Husband, though that is never shown other than a comment or two from Brody. Has no relationship/friendship with Brody whatsoever even though she gave him her sister's necklace to keep Savannah's gifted medallion safe. Can't sleep at night because of noises outside his window. Never mind that his house was shot all to hell and his dead girlfriend was placed in front of the bedroom window where he sleeps. Its the noises. So, King tells him to get a hobby to deal with his grief and there is no other mention of it. The life-saving is from a "bad attitude". Dad is an oil man who bought him a plane ticket to come home after Hurricane Katrina and used to tell him everyday that he needed to go work in the oil industry. Wears not so great looking Henley's all the time. But does have nice abs. Evidently needs counseling after a suspect points a gun at him that misfires (even though he's prior Vice and Homicide). But when Agent Percy nearly dies from defusing a bomb she once again berates him, rolls her eyes and says they both lived.
Season 3: I'm afraid to watch. I want the season 1 version back.
