The more I think about it, the more I feel that Noedi wouldn't have let another student take the fall for her mistakes back at the Academy. She might now, but I don't think she would back then.
Coming from a home where she was neglected by her parents (one of whom was an Imperial officer) and abused by her older brother (who would go on to train at the Sith Academy), I feel like she would be more of a sad idealist - someone who looks at the evil around her and tries her best not to be apart of that evil. Sure, she's got an attitude, always has, always will, and she sees the advantages of trying to get ahead (and not get killed along the way), but I don't think she'd do something so mean.
Later on I think she develops more of a cynical edge to her - she knows how the game is played and goes along only when she has to. If she needs information that will put her ahead, she'll do what she has to to get it, but she'll also won't hurt innocent bystanders either.
So yeah, that's just my thoughts on that. I think Academy!Noedi started out a little sad, kind of a loner, but found her spunk when she met someone she felt she shared a bond with. They helped each other get through the academy and then... now they're both on their own and she has to do what's necessary to get by.
