There’s a lot of really beautiful art of the triple goddess, but so many of the depictions show the goddesses all looking young and conventionally beautiful while trying to convey a sense of ethereality. I don’t want to say anything tied to any specific piece of art because the artist are so talented and I don’t want to make them feel attacked over a piece they worked hard on. But it really bugs me. The triple moon goddess is a celebration of the stages of life, of transition, of how the maiden/mother/crone are all equally beautiful and important.

My favourite depictions look like this

And very clearly show the life cycle of a very human looking woman without shying away from the natural markers of age. Women don’t stop being important when they stop looking like a teenage girl. Cellulite and the extra body fat that comes naturally with womanhood, the sagging skin and grey hair that comes with age. It’s all part of being a woman and I really hate seeing it left out of depictions of a goddess celebrating the stages of female life
