While tying a girl's shoelaces at work today, I taught her and her friend what aglets were called, and I felt like I was passing on sacred knowledge.

I love writing research reports because then I get to write things like "the metal on the end of each pencil is called the ferrule, like the aglet of pencils" and it's perfectly justifiable.
I got rainbow shoelaces so I feel like that's a thing to share with tumblr 👍
THE PLASTIC TIPS OF SHOELACES ARE CALLED AGLETS
THESE TIPS CAN ALSO BE MADE OF METALS. ITS PURPOSE IS TO HELP MAKE THE LACE EASIER TO HOLD WHEN RUNNING THROUGH THE HOLES OF THE SHOES.
anyone here’s a millenial? i’m wondering how you learnt about aglets
I'm putting new ribbon laces in my thigh high boots. Out with the black, in with the red. Each boot takes 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) of ribbon. This matches the length of the laces they currently have. I'll probably trim them down once I get them on again before I put the aglets on the end.
Oh yeah, the things on the end of laces are called aglets.
