While tying a girl's shoelaces at work today, I taught her and her friend what aglets were called, and I felt like I was passing on sacred knowledge.

I'm putting new ribbon laces in my thigh high boots. Out with the black, in with the red. Each boot takes 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) of ribbon. This matches the length of the laces they currently have. I'll probably trim them down once I get them on again before I put the aglets on the end.

Oh yeah, the things on the end of laces are called aglets.
