PRESENTING THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY ON EXOMEMORIES IN FICTIVES
It is here. The first step of my masterplan is officially complete. All of the data you so recklessly provided me with was stored, processed and is now redistributed in the form of neatly written [though not academic] paper. You can easily access the PDF by clicking the link below:
Additional credit goes to Julia Listopad from @hahahahah-no for her help and assistance throughout the whole process. Not that I needed it, but it was useful.
this zine functioned as the final project of my alaskan ecology class, and is an overview of a topic i find really fascinating, the way that salmon move nutrients across long distances and between ecosystems. i'm so happy with how the zine turned out, and it was a really fun project to work on! there are copies of the full zine for sale if you'd like to read it :^)
I am toying with the theory that Warso uses Will as his punching bag because he's not allowed to criticize Mack. So I wonder, has Warso ever talked fondly about Mack? Does he actually like him? Because I wonder if Warso doesn't even like Mack at all and is almost jealous/resentful that Mack is that good despite his coaching. Mack does respond well to proper coaching (olympics) so I think Mack knows he's a terrible coach and doesn't respect him at all especially with how he treats Will and the rest of the young guys. At this point we aren't a playoff team so I wish Warso could be fired and we have a temp coach for the remainder of the season that let's our lines marinate and not have players worry about being demoted or switched around.
Many people (M, starry, oodles of others) have mentioned the idea that Warso punishes Will because he can't punish Mack, and it is very compelling from an rpf narry sense. Soooo much you can do with that, fic wise. However, I go back and forth on this being tinhat-off true. I'll get into that and how he treats other players in a different post because I have to get to hockey practice and this is already too long.
First: does Warso even like Mack? Has he ever talked fondly about him? Oooohhhhh!!! FRIENDO. Has he ever. Last year after Worlds in two separate interviews he said: "Mack is the kind of guy you want him to marry your daughter."
I'm gonna let you sit with that. It made a lot of us here feel very weird and crazy.
Warso is never not glazing Mack. He was saying Mack was their future captain on main in his rookie season. Beyond that, last year there were several times it was made clear that Mack was calling the shots— at least when it came to his own development and ice time. The org and staff were trying to emphasize to Mack the importance of recovery in the NHL, especially for rookies. One game, the LA Kings broadcasters said in a halftime slot: "Ryan Warsofsky went to Celebrini here down the stretch and said, 'We're gonna cut back on your minutes a little bit' and Macklin Celebrini looked at his head coach and said, 'No. This is why I train so hard' and what Ryan Warsofsky said was, 'Celebrini's not wrong.'"
Okay!!!! Why are you coach at all!! What's extra unusual is Warso told people about it and publicly agreed that Mack was right. He said this to the opposing team's broadcasters as if the fact that he let Mack dogwalk him was a positive and not evidence that: 1) Mack is an arrogant brat sometimes (we know this 🥰) 2) Warso has either never had or has lost the respect of his star player. 3) Warso, against all conventional wisdom, thinks a rookie should have as much ice time as he wants (as long as that rookie gets him points).
This is sort of the start of Warso buying in to the idea that Mack's body is different than other rookies' bodies. "He's 18 going on 28" "it's like he's been in the league 12 years" and on and on. He needs to justify the insane TOI Mack has every game, which he keeps upping, because he doesn't actually have a plan to win or develop the young core that doesn't amount to 'throw Mack at it'. Part of this is being such a young head coach and being given such a good rookie right away. When your team sucks ass and one guy can score and create momentum, it's tempting to cheat code your way through games to look good at your job. And he wants it! He asked for more! Let's not mention how the adult in the relationship is supposed to act...
Chaotic research paper aesthetic. Ft. The best source I’ve gotten for my project.
(My professor makes us use font size 14 so he doesn’t get eye strain)
some early morning prep for a research paper 🌿
I was in my AP research class and we were doing peer reviews on our papers… tell me why one of my classmates said I had signs ai generation ALL because I used concurrently and moreover.
We’ve lost the art of looking up, “Synonyms for ______,” and using the “smarter” sounding word 🥹🙏 Now it’s ALL signs if A.I.
(Btw my paper has underlying themes of AI AWARENESS and being AGAINST reliance on AI. )
