I don't interact with any danganronpa fandom stuff anymore (and this is a new tumblr acc) so I dont know how you got recommended to me but oh my god you understand celestia ludenberg. I feel like you're a prophet. I have been scarred by danganronpa fans online (mainly tumblr + reddit + YouTube) completely misinterpreting her. It really did/does make me worry about media comprehension and misogyny. But yeah you're based! Share any headcannons for her if you have any you havent talked about!
But no, I'm not a prophet - I just pay attention. Not just to the game, but literally everything Celeste ever appears in. Although tbh, it is galling that the game isn't enough when you consider her fully voiced last words. She literally starts saying outright, in her non-accented voice, that not being able to believe in Alter Ego and have hope in escape was why she turned to murder. Which conversely means that if she was able to see Alter-Ego as hope, then she would not have turned to murder even with Monokuma's money motive on the table. The manga and bonus modes back this up. And thus literally everything Celeste previously said about why she did it was, shockingly, bullshit from the Queen of Liars - it was her playing a character, talking as that character. That's not to say the real Taeko is some uwu innocent - beyond her being a rude potty-mouth, her deciding "fuck it, I wanna live and I'll manipulate and kill everyone else to do so" is still very selfish of her. But she's way more nuanced than the caricatured Marie Antionette / sociopathic gambling manga OC persona she puts on. As entertaining as said persona is, I don't think you can fully love Celeste if you don't understand and embrace the awkward, self esteem-lacking girl who's putting it on.
