i feel for her so much. she's been through so much and all bc of balisarius (who ngl is kinda hot, but i have a thing for irish men; also rip to charlie hunnam who tried to do a good accent and then americans couldn't understand it 😭 ANYWAY).

clearly balisarius groomed her and i don't think that's something that's discussed enough. in more ways than one, you could argue that kora and balisarius have an almost incestuous relationship. it definitely gives the vibe to me that he may have taken advantage of her when she was young or perhaps throughout the entire time she was in the royal militarium. balisarius definitely seems like the kind of man who wouldn't have a problem doing something like that too, and it would certainly explain why he had such a hold on her as to make her kill issa when she clearly loved her dearly.

i think this also explains kora's guilt surrounding issa's death and her time in the military: not only was she blamed and framed for the royal family's deaths, she lost the only family she had left: balisarius. even when you have an abusive father, that hurts!!

also i am obsessed with the fact her name while in the militarium is the name of a saint. i definitely think that is on purpose bc snyder is very intentional in everything he does with his films (been a snyder fan since sucker punch 💕). i think her connection to the kali may have something to do with that because it reminds me of the connection saints are said to have to g-d.

kora is an amazing character. more than just your typical badass girlboss character. she's got trauma and is full of guilt and grief. she's sensitive and caring and kind!! and she's a woman of color!! it's so rare we get characters like this in media!!

anyway i would die for arthelais/kora and i really really hope we get to see her again 💕

Soulcalibur is dope as fuck, should never have gotten rid of it

youre so right tbh, its by far my most favorite franchise across all of media. even in the weaker additions like sc4 and sc5 (unpopular opinion but those two are among my favorites tbh) you can really feel how much love the devs put into it. yes its not perfect, but like at the same time you can tell they have all these crazy ideas for each one to set it apart from the previous ones and you can honestly feel how much fun they were having while bringing those ideas to fruition.

and whats so cool about soulcalibur is that it really has something for everyone. the gameplay is always so fun, and with the fact that its a 3d fighter and has 8wayrun its just so unique feeling compared to other fighters. i remember i bought tekken 7 and tekken tag team 2 because i was craving more of that style of gameplay but even that does not feel the same as the fluidity and the fast pace of a soulcalibur fight. ive never played virtua fighter but ive heard people compare calibur to it in a positive way. too bad we arent getting any new virtua fighter games anytime soon either lol

the story is VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY expansive also so if youre someone who likes big intricate stories then calibur might be fun to sink your teeth into as well for that reason. there are so many different things going on all at the same time, and honestly each little cell of characters that commonly interacts with one another on their own could already make for a really cool book or movie, but now you have so many of those all on the same roster. and each cell feels very unique too so you have many options for who would want to invest your time into

and then we have customization and original character creation. we didnt start out with that in the beginning of the series but ever since its introduction you really cant picture a new soulcalibur game not having that as an option. im pretty sure that like a pretty big chunk of the people who bought soulcalibur 6 did so PURELY for character creation like they only ever really do any fighting to watch their creations go at it with each other. its just another very fun creative outlet. im comfortable saying that soulcalibur is the pioneer of having creation in fighting games, every other game that does it seems to be taking pages out of caliburs book. and thats really cool tbh!! even if bandai namco doesnt respect its own property, its really cool when i see games like street fighter 6 have options like that that feel so reminiscent of soulcalibur, like it feels really good that giants in the industry are inspired by our small struggling niche game. i will say though lol i heavily side eye tekken 8 and its customization because there are a few items in there that i SWEAR they literally just ripped the assets out of soulcalibur to create and it makes me bitter to see lol

anyway this ramble was very pointless, i hope that you are able to get a hold of more soulcalibur in the future! if you have a computer with a good graphics card, you can emulate all the games up through sc5 i believe but i know for my laptop, which is just a regular old lenovo yoga, im comfortably able to emulate soulcalibur 2 and soulcalibur broken destiny so those might be good options for you
