The novel is historical fiction which explores the impact of the moralizing that was a part of Irish culture by following the life of Cyril Avery - a man born to a mother out of wedlock who is adopted by parents who care for him but always remind him that he’s not a real Avery because he was adopted. 

Honestly, the movie should be made because adapting a book to a movie makes more people aware that it exists. But it’s such a beautifully written book that people should read it ... not wish for a movie. That said, my casting would be ...

I love to read, and when I read any book I cast the movie adaptation in my mind. This is my casting for The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. It’s the story of a journalist who has the chance to go on the maiden voyage of a luxury yacht and finds herself wrapped up in a murder mystery. It’s kind of a Murder on the Orient Express, but with a boat.

My Casting for ... The Nest

I love reading.  More of often than not, when I read a new novel, I cast the movie adaptation in my mind.  It’s the easiest way for me to remember each character. I’m going to start “reviewing” each book I read by naming my dream cast. (I’ll admit up front - my mind casts Michael Fassbender quite often) First up - The Nest - the story of a dysfunctional family trying to work through the drama of saving their trust fund.

Ike and Buddy Lee are not satisfied with how slowly the police investigation is moving, and decide to dive into their old lives and criminal connections to figure out what happened themselves.  My casting would be -

It’s the story or a recently divorced therapist who one night in October finds a man on the edge of a bridge about to jump. She persuades him to get coffee with her which leads to them spending a weekend together healing. It’s a great book and could make a great movie. My casting is -
