Cinektober day 6: Fun
When I was in the food service industry... I could not understand what I was hearing when my bosses and coworkers said au jus.
So when people would ask for sandwiches I would ask if they wanted that sauce.
But it always came out different to every single customer.
Would you like the au-oo sauce?
Do you need the a joo sauce?
May I offer you our homemade achoo sauce?
I finally just had to sheepishly ask someone how to pronounce because I couldn’t go on like this.
But for MONTHS guys… I would be saying weird shit that would try to sound like Au Jus
Ahhhhhhhhh
chooo :-/
i hate TLJ very much and seeing the reaction to TRoS is like hooking into a time machine to 2 yrs ago. there is so much bitterness in fandom now, it takes my breath away a little bit and yet i feel like reylos (of which i am one) still play a kind of victim card when it's obvious that the storytellers never had much intention to tell a gripping story in the first place but instead opted for all these supposedly significant moments.
For years I've joked that no one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans. I'm bummed to have entered that sorry camp myself.
At some point soon I'll have to decide how (or whether) to continue to be part of the SW fandom. My viscerally negative reaction to TROS has given me insight into how much my son must have hated TFA (never able to get past Han's death). I'm not sure how someone who considers themselves a reylo would hate TLJ, but if Star Wars has taught me anything, it's that we can all feel betrayed when stories we care about don't go the way we thought or hoped they would.
Not sure what the answer is here. For many, transformative works are clearly the way to stay positively engaged. For those of us who are just too grief-stricken or angry, it's probably best to step back.
Thanks for reaching out, anon.
