Another amazing book review!
We received another book review for our summer reading program. If you haven't signed up yet, do so here!
Here is the book review by Reed M.
"In my opinion, the Harry Potter series is one of the most addicting, magical, and superior stories. They're filled with adventure, a long journey, and a battle between good and evil. I feel strong connections with the characters, and I picture everything that's happening as clearly as if I were there. It's fun for the reader, since it seems as though they're being taken along with their adventures.
I really like all the juicy adjectives, and the well thought out word choices. I always laugh at the hilarious similes and connections, and anticipate what's coming next when something interesting happens. I especially enjoy all the magic that takes place throughout the books. Out of the seven, thick volumes, I can't choose which is my favorite. They all have different adventures that tie together in some way. As soon as I pick up one of the books, I can never put them back down. I definitely recommend this series to people who love fiction, magic, adventure, mysteries, and friendship.
To me, Harry Potter doesn't have to Stay in the pages of a book. I've collected all the movies, and lots of Harry Potter knickknacks. When Universal Studios opened up Harry Potter World, I badly wanted to go. However, it wasn't until much later that I got to see it. I went on all the rides, drank butterbeer, and pumpkin juice, visited all the shops, and bought a wand. The experience made me so excited that even the heat didn't bother me! (The rest of ny family was annoyed with the outrageous heat, but I didn't really feel anything out of excitement.) It was just the thought of being somewhat closer to their world that made me happy enough."

Ghost like figures sucking out people’s souls, the forced consumption of poison, and a young blonde boy plotting the assassination of the school headmaster! JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince delivers the Harry Potter series down a darker path as Hogwarts, the beloved school of witchcraft and wizardry, faces corruption from within and a siege of dark wizards. One might call it the maturation of the classic teenage wizarding trio that has transformed a generation as the series transforms from playful and magical to calamitous and wicked. Rowling drops the children’s book standard and brings more serious topics into the series, effectively showing that Harry Potter is more than just reading for youth, but a complex and well developed storyline.
In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Harry’s 6th year at Hogwarts takes a turn for the worse as his nemesis, Draco Malfoy, brews up something evil that no one can figure out. To add to the confusion, Harry’s nefarious potions master, Snape, appears to be in cahoots with Draco and the dark forces at hand. As the fight against the dark wizards, or Death Eaters, unfolds, Harry and his friends fight to stop Malfoy before the school faces irreversible consequences. Meanwhile, Headmaster Dumbledore continues to secretly go out on journeys to fight the Dark Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes—magical objects that must be destroyed before death—facing horrible obstacles that deteriorate his health. Not to mention the complex feelings faced by all teenagers as they fall for their peers, which brings a dash of love into the story. The plot bubbles with suspense and keeps the reader on edge, page after page.
The book effectively serves as a transition from the comical and joyous magical adventures of the early series to the fatal and stern close to the series. Rowling shows that she is more than just a children’s author by adding many dark influences to her series, but manages to keep in touch with her young audience by supplying comic relief through side characters such as the ever clumsy Neville Longbottom. Some may argue that the transformation from children to adults for the main characters is a harsh one, complete with loss of friends and death threats, but this teaches young readers an important lesson: perseverance is key in any situation. Yes, the book serves as a bit of a shock for the Potter fans, but it is a necessary evil. The book is complete with symbolism and metaphors for friendship and hard work, creating a positive influence on the youthful audience and allowing the book to rise above the ranks of other children’s fantasy novels.
Complete with suspense, love, and blight, this book will suck you in and maybe even steal your soul. In addition to the important messages throughout, this book is one of a kind because it supplies a unique dark side to a children’s series. Will Harry be able to stop Malfoy before it is too late? Will Dumbledore find a way to destroy the horcrux before his inevitable death? Read JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to find out! Your life might just take a turn down a dark and twisted path if you don’t!
