wentzley drabble
Andy is an associate at Peter Wentz's law-firm. Peter junior is interning this summer. They have been forced by his boss-ossiate to "collaborate", Peter junior will be shadowing Andrew the entire summer.
So far this collaboration has been stumped by Wentz Junior's disinterest in studying law and taking university as an opportunity to further his soccer career while his father applauds his nepotic mediocrity.
He's tired of Pete parading —always late– around his office in sweaty jerseys and almost translucent polyester shorts with his stupid "bartskull" printed all over the right wrong places. Handfuls of gravel in the deepest parts of his most expensive sofas to be used for his most important client meetings, and all his fancy fair trade specialty coffee used up.
Pete just smirks on his way in, throwing his gym bag on top of the desk and pulling a chair right beside his mentor, his plan had worked all along, he just had to break the man a little bit more.
“Andrew John” Pete bowed filled with snark – He was so ready to slap that smirk out of the kid, Andy could not bear to listen to his full legal name one more time, not even if his associates agreed to vet their interns through their human resources department, instead of brief meetings at the country club sauna and whisky and cigars after.
“Peter Junior” mustering all he had learned in mindfulness classes to not roll his eyes and pull a polite smile. He pushed his glasses up and turned to hand the intern a file.
“Wentz what the fuck do you think you’re doing!”
Pete had his practice clothes strewn around the couch behind him as he pulled on a pair of joggers, “Well you said I can’t wear my soccer gear in-office so I brought spare?” He shrugged as if it was the most logical answer.
Andy dropped the file back on the desk and quickly ran to pull the windows down.
“Are you insane Pete? This is not a locker room, this is my office!” He huffed while he pinched the bridge of his nose, almost as if he could feel a migraine coming.
Pete stared at him in awe, proud of the reaction he had caused.
The elastic on his joggers slapped against his hips, barely hanging on by a loosely tied knot. He approached the older man making a small detour to his chair, pushing his own aside with his foot.
“Well Andrew we have to share the office, remember?” He grabbed the file atop the desk and pretended to read “You see this is why I chose to shadow you” —His eyes peered up from the upside down file with a mischievous glimmer. “You’re the most fun out of all my dad’s employees”
Andy almost choked at those words, CHOSE? EMPLOYEE?
“Peter I will have you know your father made that decision as soon as you set your foot in law school” He was flushed all over, some areas gaining more blood than others.
“I will also have you know that I am not an employee I am an associate of this firm” As the big gold plated plaque with his last name indicated by the entrance, but that would never impress a man like Pete.
