Welp. I am extremely pissed off

If you haven’t heard already, AO3 is currently under attack by a scraper bot which has been stealing fanfics as a part of it’s “learning algorithm”

This has caused many authors to publicly lock our hard work to prevent it from downgraded to a file for people who don’t appreciate or understand anything about writing to use for their own purposes.

I literally made my fics public because I fell in love with this site as a non-user, now I have to make a hard decision which prevents future writers from being inspired like I once was just to protect myself because once again people who have jaded opinions from just glancing at AO3 just have to ruin it for everyone else!

I’m literally a month away from finishing my creative writing degree, I don’t need this! The community doesn’t need nor deserve this!

Sorry if you don’t have an AO3 account and can no longer see many beloved fics because of the selfishness of small minded humans.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go see how I can possibly file a DMCA

Chaotic Companions (AI Attack) || Illyria and Sydney

The blast had momentarily stunned Fred, but Illyria was quick to recover. She had been ready before Angel had instructed her and she had moved as soon as her course was set. Her duty was to protect the human, Sydney, from the enemies that currently invaded the building. Her first order of business was to find Sydney, who had not partaken in the fight training with the rest of the group, and to confirm that her duty was not already moot.

She walked to the office, conscious but unconcerned with the oncoming carnage. Soon, the soldiers would fill their halls. If the soldiers were brave and foolish, it would be with their own delicate bodies.

She found the office and looked inside to find the detective, Sydney. She didn't see her at first and she stiffed a sigh of disappointment. She had no urge to search in the middle of a battle field for a companion. To be thorough she walked into the office and reached out to pull the desk back and out of her way to see if Sydney was perhaps beneath it.

Before the desk was fully moved, she felt arms around her torso. They attempted to trap her arms by her side and to pull her backwards and off her feet. Illyria smiled as she brought her head back, neatly breaking the nose and the grip of her assailant. She turned and he stumbled back from her and towards the doorway where another of his kind appeared. She kicked the first square in the chest, sending him back into the other.

"That's not right. Why are they wearing SHIELD uniforms?" asked the voice inside of her mind.

"It is a matter to be inquired after later," she agreed with Fred. For now, their duty was to find Sydney.

"Sydney," Illyria snapped. "We've not time for foolishness," she said, hoping she would be heard. "It is time for battle."

Run and Catch (AI Attack) || Drusilla, Angel, & Ink

Drusilla smiled as the confusion and disorientation filled the air because of her toy. She giggled. Even with her hands firmly over her ears and her eyes shut, she felt the power of the device.

When the air cleared, she opened her eyes and looked to Kurt who was currently facing her, his hands pressed to the wall on either side of her body. He wasn't protecting her, it was simply how he landed when she grabbed him. She reached up and tapped his nose, her smile still wide. "Time to play our little games," she told him.

She ducked out from his arms and went to the alleyway again. She saw the soldiers attacking the building and the glass that had shattered with the flashbang. Now as time to wait for Angel. They were overwhelmed and it would be suicide for his humans to stay within the delicate walls of the office, especially when it crumbled around them.

Come out. Come out and play.

She watched the front door. Soldiers would bar his path to her, both normal human and superhuman alike. Still, he had a promise that he felt he needed to keep and there she stood for him to try and keep it.

He would know her silhouette and her confident stance. He would know what she had done and that she had been so very naughty. The games she had planned, however, they would always be a lovely surprise.
