i go on pinterest a lot around October to look at photos of cool Halloween decorations and this fucking year its just swarmed with AI photos >:(
thing is tho, its so fucking easy to tell if that cool halloween photo is ai. Every single one turns the face of the jack-o'-lantern straight towards the camera every single time
This one is the most obvious ai fake, the more you look at the decorations the more obvious how bad the is becomes
every single pumpkin is facing the camera perfectly, they all look unnaturally carved the same, and also what the fuck is going on with the middle of the sidewalk?
ok just look at the further back left pumpkins, the ai loses it when it comes to far away jack o lanterns. Also make a note of how obscenely bright the inside of these and all the previous photos jack o lanterns are. Almost every single ai jack o lantern doesn't look hollow, they look like they have solid insides. Even unlit ones in these ai fakes will look like they have a flat black wall right behind the carved part instead of a hollow cavity
ai jack o lanterns have an aggressive need to face directly straight towards the camera, even when that wouldn't make sense for how its been placed, and to never obscure each other. These in this real photo look like they're on stairs, a few are in front of others. Note the variety of jack o lantern faces here, note that even tho most are facing forward, they all still aren't perfectly about-facing the camera. Also see how they aren't all uniformly lit from the inside, some are dimmer then others
look at how even the furthest away pumpkins in this photo can still have a recognizable face, how many are over lapping with others?
look at these, you can tell they're hollow, and see how they all aren't standing to attention directly at the camera?
🎃ok lets go back to the fakes for a sec:
notice how ever single pumpkin in these ai fakes is always the same exact shape: perfect round pumpkin
also take note of the lighting inside: flat and pure yellow, doesn't look hollow at all. Also a jack o lantern this time of day would not be glowing that brightly! That only happens in dark conditions!
perfect example of the whole "the ai cannot make the decorations face away from the camera" thing. In what world would anyone have every single one of their decorations pointing at a weird left angle like that? You'd want all of them facing forwards towards the street!
same here, plus all the stuff about same pumpkin size/shape and the interior illumination
oh come on, this ones obvious but i figured i'd include it
so one exception to the "flat yellow inside lighting" is the plastic fake pumpkins you can buy and carve
but even then its super obvious that these are still "real", as in these exist and were in the world
at a glance i could tell this house above was legit, but when in doubt, reverse image search is your friend!
