For those asking why I reblogged that last post, I just wanted to clarify some things about this bracket before it starts so I don't get the same problems Schrodinger's Gender Bracket mod had in their tournament.
I have problems with communicating things clearly, those who saw the original submission days know that. So, since I got an opportunity, I'm getting this outta the way by citing a part of that post:
"Including problematic characters and problematic media also does not equate to me, voters, or the people who submitted them of supporting the bigotry or harmful stereotypes present in their media. I believe you can critically consume, and even enjoy, problematic media while still acknowledging its flaws and refusing to perpetuate them. Some comments and messages I have received did not seem to want to entertain this possibility and immediately assumed I and those involved are Nazis, transphobic, racist, etc. I do not support the bigoted beliefs present in the problematic media or characters in the bracket. In good faith, I assume the voters and submitters also do not support those bigoted beliefs. It is dangerous to automatically assume bad faith in others."
I'm citing this part because I know that this discussion can and very probably will happen in this bracket, especially because I'm keeping the rules of "every fandom/media is allowed" and "villainous characters (and other bad rep) are allowed".
And considering we already have submissions with just straight up horrible representations of mental illness (specially DID), I felt the need to clear this up.
Liking and enjoying problematic media and characters DOESN'T mean supporting these problematic aspects!!
A character being a racist or a nazi isn't a sign that the people who like that character are racists or nazis.
As SGB mod said "you can critically consume, and even enjoy, problematic media while still acknowledging its flaws and refusing to perpetuate them".
